Red Lion Inn

We just stayed there in May. It was only one night so I didn't get a lot of time to get a feel of it, but it was fine. The rooms aren't real big, we had to squeeze our DS's pack n play into the corner of the room. The bed wasn't super comfy, my husband complained about that, but I didn't have a problem. The property was nice and clean. The parking lot is large so you don't have to jam in and worry about getting a spot again if you leave. The hallways are closed corridors which is nice and I didn't notice any noise. We got it for $50 on Priceline so I think it was WELL worth the price. We could walk from there, but it is a little far for most people.

I just stayed there Sunday and Monday evening and thought it was a good deal for the price we paid. Got a deal on LastMinuteTravel.com for it.

Rooms were clean. I found the pillows to be not so great but that's just because I prefer a firm pillow, and these were very soft, so I stacked them. No noise issues. didn't try the breakfast. looked at the pool but didn't use it - looked nice though, with comfy chairs around it.

We walked to DL from the hotel both days, took about 15 minutes at a leisurely pace. Also the Toy Story parking lot is right next to the hotel, so you could potentially take the shuttle instead of doing the full walk (we didn't do this, but definitely an option).

Let me know if you have any other questions. Overall, very happy with the choice to stay there.

Red Lion is nice. Stayed there a few days in May. We went with another family, and on their first night we hung out by the firepits and let the kids swim. They sell beer if you are interested. Breakfast was very nice, we always were there early and you had apples or bananas, melon or pineapple, buffet-style scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, very-runny oatmeal (maybe it thickened up as time went on), orange juice, apple juice, bagels and two types of cereal, something next to the bagels, but I don't remember, and coffee brought by the staff. The pool had a handicap-assist device. My room was quiet and the beds were very super comfy (I slept better here than I did at Hojos... we were not by the freeway, but our corner room was super noisy all night). We were crowded with 5 in the room. The sink area is inside with the shower and toilet, so it was difficult to have someone in there changing or getting ready while something else was going on. Staff was nice. We had a fireworks view which was nice. We got in on a great deal with parking and breakfast included. Parking is $14 and breakfast is $10. For our deal breakfast was free for two adults per room and kids under ten. Whether or not they charge for an older child depends on the dining room staff, they seemed very polite. Fridge does not have a freezer, if that is important to you. Small safe and flat-screen TV were nice. Towels and bathroom were nice... did not use the shampoo. We used the Toy Story Shuttle a lot. We timed it with part of our group walking with a stroller... we got there at exactly the same time; there is a shuttle leaving the lot every 5 minutes at least. On a busy night at closing there was a line returning which seemed to move fairly quickly, but we walked.

edit: One more little note. There were no drawers for clothes in the room. The dresser had four cubbies with the fridge in the middle cabinet.

Thank for your responses! I'm definitely looking forward to our stay there next month! :thumbsup2

Has anyone stayed there recently? If so, I would love to hear your thoughts!

Just curious, did you get it on priceline? I've been trying to get either a 3.5 or 4 star for the past week but haven't been successful. We're trying to get a few days mid week starting July 24th.

We actually used Travelzoo. They had a deal a week or so ago that was $109/night including parking and breakfast. Not sure if they still have that deal going, but it might be worth a try! Good luck!

That stinks, usually Priceline is a good deal for Anaheim. We used Lastminutetravel.com last time though. It is similar to hotwire, but better. Lastminute travel lets you see the photos of the hotel before you book. Thus, it is pretty easy to determine what hotel you are getting.

For those dates, I see the Hilton for $85 a night, the Hyatt for $77, Marriott Suites for $77 a night and lastly the Red Lion for $72. I'd go with the Hilton, it is close enough and very nice! It did mention the red lion's resort fee is included in the $72 which is nice. We did the Hilton off this site last year and the parking was reduced from the normal rate to $5 as part of our last minute travel package.

We are booked for December. Just curious how your stay ended up?
We usually stay at the Holiday Inn Express on Katella.

Thanks!

We really liked The Red Lion. Our room was clean, the staff was friendly, and we were happy with the location. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

REd Lion is our "go to" hotel for DL trips. We can get a room for around $99 a night with free parking and free breakfast. It's not a far walk (and we have 2 small kids) and it's clean and nice.:thumbsup2

I used to work for the Red Lion in Bakersfield, which is no longer with the Red Lion Franchise. One thing to consider is that extras are not often included when you purchase the room online through a 3rd party. Call the front desk and see if they will match the online prices, that way you get the lower price and the breakfast that should come with the room. If their occupancy is looking like it is going to be low, you may see if they are willing to give you a deal, it wasn't unusual for me to give $69 rooms with all extras when it didn't look like we were full, however the front desk manager was for some reason fond of giving away $99 jacuzzi suites, which would have ordinarily rented for $169-199 a night. It never hurts to ask politely, a long as you don't get annoying. Treat the desk staff with respect, and they will look out for you! Also, keep in mind that many of those online vendors only pay $35-$45 for those rooms that you paid them $89 for, so don't throw a fit when you get placed next to the freeway, or any other less desirable part of the property.
