Do any airlines still do red-eye flights?

Has anyone done one, then went straight into the parks?

I'm travelling solo in December, and meeting up with friends and want to get a running start to the day.

Red eyes exist - mainly going from west to east (so, Europe from North America, New York from California, etc.) where the changing time zones help, though there are some exceptions (I've taken red-eyes from South America to North America, where there was no time-zone change). I'd be surprised if there was a red-eye from Indiana to Florida, but I could be wrong.

Your ability to get a running start, depends entirely on you. I often work the day I arrive in Europe (off of a red-eye) and when my parents took me to Europe we always had a full day of sight seeing, but other people feel totally zonked.

I've never taken a red-eye to WDW, so I cannot comment about hitting the parks.

I have taken several red-eyes from SEA-MCO and it is not my preferred way to travel, by any means. On those flights which leave SEA about 10:45 PM, you have a 5-5½ hour flight (figure 4:45-5:15 AM EDT). You "may" be able to get 2-3 hours of sleep before you land. between the lack of sleep and the jet lag, it is no way to begin your day doing anything.

We did take the red eye last year. 1st time and never again. Both girls and hubby, none of us slept. Luckily our Grand Villa at OKW was ready at 9:30 am can you believe that? That woke us up! We slept good that night but a day in the park would have been a waste. We were grumpy~!:headache:

I assume you are coming from Indiana, so the answer is no.

You might want to travel the evening before and stay at an inexpensive hotel near the airport or at a Value Resort at Disney.

I hate red-eyes.

I'm considering it. I would have somewhere to stay... DH's cousin lives in Orlando. The main drawback would be transportation from MCO to Orlando to the parks the next day...

I did a red eye on my most recent trip from Sacramento to Orlando. We had an extra night with no tickets and we chose today we thought we'd be trashed but we ended up wandering a bunch of resorts, taking the DHS - Epcot Boat the whole route, riding the monorail seeing those resorts and wandering DTD our energy never flagged til 10pm and we didn't sleep on the plane. If you are a ride on adrenaline as you're soo excited to get to Disney you can do red eyes and go straight to the park. But if you aren't the kind who can go a long time without sleep then I don't recommend it. I was fresh off the pull all nighters go to class and work all day schedule... and my fiance is one who can do the same. Even then we were safe and chose to have an extra day at a value resort.

Again you need to think about how your body reacts to lack of sleep!

You can sometimes find a very early morning flight. You will not make rope drop, but you will get in mid-morningish. Should be there by lunch. If you want to rope drop, you need to fly down the evening before, and that's going to cost money---either for an extra hotel night somewhere, or extra ground transportation costs, or both.
