Recycling Yankee Candle Jars?

I have a Buttercream Large Jar candle that is pretty much at its end. We noticed it doesn't really smell anymore and there is less than an inch left in the jar.

I was wondering if anyone reuses the jars? If so how do you get the rest of the candle out? I thought the jar was nice so I might want to clean it and use it to hold hair bows for the girls.

I don't have an answer but I've often wondered the same thing!

If there is a thin layer of candle left, try putting the jar in the freezer for a bit, to really harden the candle and try "popping" it out them, I would use something with a sharp point to loosen it out. If that gets it out, I put warm soapy water in the container and let it set for awhile, and then just scrub the inside as best you can, removing any loose wax with again, a knife or something. I usually do this for some votive candle holders that I have, but suspect it might work on the jars. The only thing is perhaps being able to get down into the jar to get any residue off if our hand won't quite fit.

Hey, give it a try, it might work! And YEAH, I'm going to the Yankee Candle Flagship store in MA next week for the first time...I'm really looking forward to it. Candles, here I come.

Maybe put the candle jar in the freezer and then pop out what is remaining once it freezes. That is what I do with the tarts. Or you could stick it in the microwave and melt what is left, I guess, and then pour it out.

I think it might light in the microwave, but you could maybe put it in hot water and get it melted.

maybe boil the glass jar? That was my concern with the microwave as well, that's why I wasn't sure.

I run some really hot water fromthe sink in it, let it sit for a few minutes, and then scoop it out with a spoon or whatever. The hot water has usually softened the wax enought where it'll be pliable enough to get out.

you can put water in the jar and put it in the microwave for a few seconds

Any candle jars that I reuse I put in the freezer. They usually pop out pretty easily...and the wonderful things you can use them for!!!:sunny:

If you are going to microwave them be sure to take off the label. It has metal in it and will not be good in the microwave. :earseek:

I always just pop it in the freezer and then just pit little "nicks" in and around the remaining wax and it will come out in chunks.....then I put those chunks of wax in my tart burner and use the leftovers for a little more scent before I toss the wax.:D

I clean my candle jars and votive holders by putting them on a cookie sheet and "baking" them at 250º until the wax melts and then pour it off. Works like a charm!
