My teen/young adult kids are going together for 1 day, park hopper passes. Rope drop to close, 8am-midnight. These are their must rides…what would be the best order to maximize their time?

Disneyland:
Pirates
Space Mountain
Indiana Jones

California:
Radiator Springs
Incredicoaster
Soarin’
Star Wars (the big one)

Extras if time:
Matterhorn
Peter Pan
Tiana Splash
Star Tours
Thunder Mountain
Haunted Mansion

Are they going to buy Genie+ (soon to be called Lightning Lane Multipass)?

Are they willing to buy Individual Lightning Lanes for Radiator Springs or Rise of the Resistance?

Will they have Early Entry (for those staying at Disney hotels)?

Just an aside, I’m assuming the Star Wars ride you are referring to is Rise of the Resistance, if so that’s in Disneyland not California Adventure.

When will they be going?

Things to consider:
Space Mountain will be closed starting August 5
Haunted Mansion won't re-open until August 23 and will be by virtual queue only
Tiana (formerly Splash) has no official opening date yet

Radiator Springs Racers and Space Mountain both have single rider lines that are quite a bit shorter than waiting in a regular standby line.

If they are going for one day, I would recommend buying Genie+ (note that this is changing to Lightning Lane Multi-Pass starting July 24th). And as noted by a previous poster the big Star Wars ride, Rise of the Resistance, is located in Disneyland not DCA. Tiana's Bayou Adventure will most likely be a virtual queue if it is open. Haunted Mansion will also be a virtual queue when it opens. I would do that virtual queue at the 1pm drop if it is open.

With that, I would use this order. Tiana's and Haunted Mansion would have to be fit in based on the virtual queues.

Start in Disneyland

1) Space Mountain
2) Star Tours
3) Matterhorn
4) Big Thunder Mountain
5) Indiana Jones
6) Pirates

Peter Pan can be saved for later, do that at the end of the night at park close.

Park Hop over to DCA.

This is all based on wait times, so may need to adjust the order.

1) Radiator Racers (do single rider)
2) Incredicoaster
3) Soarin'

I also would recommend Guardians:Mission Breakout, the drop ride.

Again Genie+ will definitely help them to ride everything. It is possible, I have rode every open ride in both parks in one day (52 rides).

I think ride order really depends on how things are going at the park on any given day as far as closures etc. It might be better just to know what they want to do and keep an eye on wait times the day they're in the parks.

That said, there are some rides that are close to each other and it would make sense to do them around the same time if possible. When we rope drop my kids can do Indy, Big Thunder, Pirates, Splash and HM all within a couple of hours.

Space, Matterhorn and Star Tours are all close-ish to each other.

Peter Pan is in Fantasyland but worth a visit! That line is almost always 30-45 minutes but I've had luck going at night sometimes, like 10 or 11pm.

If they want to do Rise that would be a good one to buy an ILL for.

At DCA all of those rides are pretty spread out. I'd suggest just watching wait times for those. RS will be the longest most likely.

Hope they have a great trip!
