I heard somewhere (I forget where now..) that the recreation and life-guarding roles were combined. Is this true? If not, which role is in charge of marina duty?

I'm applying for the Spring '10 program, and I just want to make sure I know the details about each role before I apply for them.

Thanks!! :thumbsup2

recreation and lifeguarding are combined for scheduling purposes. there are not too many CPs that guard that are rec. but it can be possible. . .usually not though. . .

if you want to work marinas, request to work in recreation.

I know at my location it was easy for recreation cast members to become lifeguards. You really had to be on your manager's good side to be a lifeguard and do recreation shifts. I know your not doing the cp for the money but one thing to consider is lifeguarding is one of the higher salaries out of all the roles. Good luck, I'm sure you will love what ever you decide!

Thanks for the info!! I would love to work in the marina and help out by the pools and stuff, but I'm not too keen on being a life-guard, so I'm glad you guys let me know that they sometimes overlap!!

I'm checking in Aug 12th and doing Recreation. Is it possible to work at the golf courses in this role???..NOT mini golf courses... but the real ones like Lake Buena Vista and Osprey Ridge. I thought I had heard this is a possibility (And hope so too b/c a large portion of my interview was spent talking about my experience working at a golf club), but I'm not sure. This role seems like it could include a wide range of options.

working at the real golf courses is no longer available to CPs.

and I love my marina shifts now, but they can be very very boring. . .

I want your job. kthxbye! lol. One thing I don't like about your shifts and lifeguarding shifts, though, is that they never compare well with attractions shifts making it nearly impossible for three friends to hang out. :sad1:

Brittany, do recreation. That is my advice to you. :thumbsup2

So if recreation and life-guarding overlap, does that mean you have to go through the life-guard training for the recreation role too??

I did recreation for the fall advantage 2009 at the yacht and beach club marina.no you dont go through the same training as the lifeguards. you will work side by side with them, and they can be trained to work the same jobs you do. You can get opportunities to do the lifeguard training, but they will change your role from recreation to lifeguard.
