Recovering from ankle surgery

I will be about a month out of ankle surgery when I go in 2 weeks. I finally broke down and rented a scooter as recovery is slow and I still have a severe bone bruise. I think I might be okay to park it and wait in line for the rides(is this a common practice?). I have this concern of what people will think, I am definitely not lazy usually. I know that for my family to have a good time with me this will be required. Can someone tell me rides that exit somewhere far away from the entry? Also, do the bus drivers help you get on the bus and in the right place? I obviously don't drive one on a regular basis and don't think I would be very good at negotiating this.

Thanks any advice is appreciated.

Also, I would only leave it behind if lines were under 15 minutes. Hoping the time of yr and touring plan allows this to happen often.

While you certainly may park the ECV and stand in line, you are also welcome to take the ECV in line with you and transfer to the ride vehicle itself. You would park in stroller parking, which isn't necessarily at the entrance to each ride. Usually there's one or two spots designated for an area. So the ride exit also would not necessarily be near where you park either.

In my experience, the Disney bus drivers are absolutely amazing getting people using ECV's on and off the bus.

Some lines such as Soarin, is about 1/4 of a mile one way. Most rides also don't necessarily unload close to where you would need to park the scooter. One example of this is Kilimanjaro Safari. You would have to back track quite a ways to get back to your scooter.

Check out the FAQ's sticky at the start of the forum. There is a lot of information in there about ride lines and ECV's.

I think you are very wise to get an ECV and I hope you are renting from a company off-site so you will have it available in the resorts. There is a LOT of walking to be done just getting around your hotel. I'm pretty sure standing on that ankle for any length of time is NOT going to help it heal properly. Don't feel embarrassed about using the ECV. You wouldn't feel embarrassed to wear glasses or give yourself an insulin shot, if you needed to. And who really cares what a bunch of strangers thinks about you anyway? Let them think what they want! You know your situation better than any of them.

Thanks, I get around fairly good but am in pain mist of the time. I know that if I can't make it around my work and home then Disney will take me down. Hoping January crowds and proper park selection will be my friend. Hoping not to run over too many people's ankles and toes. Lol
