Has anyone ever hired someone to record their proposal?

It's just going to be me and my g/f on the trip, and I was planning to propose to her. I think she would like to have it on video, so I was tossing the idea around of finding someone to record it. It's going to be at The Dark Side (on The Jaws ride :thumbsup2), so there will be no Disney PhotoPass people to snag the event for us.

We are not big picture people, so it throws out the idea of hiring someone to do engagement pictures and making it a whole package. It's about 30 minutes of work, so no idea how feasible it would be to hire someone.

The only thing I could think of is trying to find someone with an annual pass to Universal on Craigslist to do it. I'd just be worried that going that route would have a higher chance of the person not showing up. Plus no idea what a fair rate would be for that too. :confused3

just as there are tons of professional photogs that work the WDW environs, there are sure to be some who frequent that U place!!

yes, you could do craigslist, but you might look into some of the weddign photographers and/or videographers in orlando and price things. people will be glad to speak to you, would probably know if professional photogs are allowed into universal property (there are restrictions at WDW) and may not be as wildly expensive as you fear for a limited time of work. it might be more worth your while to have something professionally done as opposed to the random craigs list person!

good luck!

I saw where you were posting on another thread about doing this. I am just wondering, did you check with US to see if they could help in any way. I am just wondering if the person "driving" the boat could "video" the ride. This would keep with their theming of "being in the movies". Maybe like a new addition to this ride. This way, they would seem to blend into the background and DG would not have any clue. Then you would have it recorded... just a thought. I don't have any other suggestions, sorry. Not sure how much to pay someone to do this type of thing.

I just sent US a message the other day with some questions hoping to get some help. Their site is weird, so I'm not 100% sure the form went through. There was never any confirmation thing. I figure in a few days if I don't hear something, I could try to give them a call (I have an mild phobia of phones  so I'll probably try to wait as long as possible).

Thanks for the idea on at least talking to professional photographers. I figured it wouldn't be worth their time for only like 30 minutes of work, but I guess it can not hurt to ask.

My fiance surprised me by proposing in front of all our friends and family so several family members video taped it. It's not the greatest quality but we love it. I'm so happy to have video because the moment happened so quickly and he got down on one knee while I was looking away. I love looking back and seeing his face and his reaction and see it in real time- not just photos. We also posted the video on our website for those who were not there. This is my long way of saying I think videotaping is a great idea!:thumbsup2
