My name is correct on my actual paper deed, but if I search on the occ website my name is misspelled by 1 Letter in the online search results .

So (not real) example:

Name correctly typed on deed: Diana
Name appears on OCC website: Diane

Should I be concerned at all?

Currently, the deed is in my name and my adult daughter. Next year, when my 17 year old turns 18, we plan on adding her and my husband.

Will it present any problems for us?
Can I just fix it at that time?
Is there nothing really to fix?

Thanks!

For some reason my name was recorded wrong on our paperwork. My name is hyphenated on my ID and on every other doc we would have provided DVD but on the deed it’s not my correct legal name. I had to sign an affidavit basically stating that everywhere my name was listed as “X” it ways supposed to be “Y”. Not sure if this applies in your circumstance but I wanted to share my experience :)

I always have name "issues". I have an apostrophe and 2 capital letters in my actual legal name and sometimes computer programs won't even let you put it in correctly. The last time I got my drivers license they just put a space in place of the apostraphe. So in many circumstances, the whole rest of my name (after the space) just isn't listed at all. Seriously, nothing matches on anything anymore at this point in my life. I barely even notice misspellings anymore and I use only my first initial whenever possible. I always freak out a little when I fly because my boarding pass doesnt ever match my ID but so far I haven't had trouble.

My husband's first name is misspelled on the information search line for the Orange County Recorder, but our deed is correct. It just makes searching for the deed more time consuming unless you know the document ID number or if know the other name on the record you can search with that name. As long as the name on the deed is correct it doesn't matter.

For some reason it only shows the last half of my husbands name on the website! Glad I’m not the only one. :-)
