Record Streaming Video

My DD has a show that is current airing on various cable channels. Unfortunately, none of them show in our area. They are available via streaming video on the Internet. I'd really like to record them.

I tried buying a program called ProDVD to use, but it didn't work. Once I installed it on my PC, I could no longer pick up the streaming video. It caused several problems on my PC. It was a download product I bought off of a website. When I went back to ProDVD, they told me they were sorry it didn't work, go ask for my money back from the company that sells their products. After repeated attempts to get this company to even acknowledge me, I gave up. So, ProDVD is not an option.

If anyone knows how I could do this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

the easiest way is to get a LiteOn standalone DVD recorder. It's about US$100 in Canada. You use it just like you use a VCR. No computer necessary.

I think the problem is that it is not on TV so that the standalone DVD player would not work unless it happens to record video streams from the internet. Although now that I think about it, if you can output your computer to a TV you can record that the stream at full screen to the DVD recorder, but I'm unsure to what quality you would end up with.

The problem with trying to do this is that some copyright holders (especially for television content) don't want you to do this. They try to prevent this sort of thing from happening and programs that may have worked, may no longer.

There are programs that did work, but I'm not sure what programs they are since I really haven't tried to do this. I usually have a TV tuner card in my PC and record from there or transfer recordings from my Tivo.
