Do you think with Disney having such a good revenue report come out there may be less discounts for next year. And another question, is the only way to see if you may have a pin code assoiated with your name is to call.

I'm hoping that record revenue means Disney thinks we have loads and loads of cash to spend on merchandise, so they will entice us to visit by offering room discounts ...:thumbsup2

I actually think it's quite the opposite. The record revenue is DUE TO the discounts, and Disney would be foolish to stop offering them. It doesn't really matter, though; the powers that be will do what they will regardless of what we think.

I agree with this...why fix something that's not broken. If it works, I can't see why they would change it. But who knows :confused3

Of course they're going to try to change things to increase revenues. Disney is a business. That being said, I can't see being able to do away with discounts completely. It does make sense to try to cut back as much as they can from a business perspective though. I do foresee discounts continuing to come out later and possibly for reduced amounts with greater blackouts so they can see if that'll work. If needed, they'll increase the offers but only as needed rather than starting out high. Either that or they'll do another huge increase in resort rates so they can continue to offer the current discount levels meaning we're still paying more but feeling like we're getting a better deal.

I also agree with this!
and if you do the math....... considering an average family of 4 staying at a resort in one room..... use the example of a 30% discount on a moderate room. Disney may lose $50-60 a night, but just in food alone the family of 4 will spend 2 to 3 times that in a day, plus tickets, souveniers, etc.
So.... yes I agree the record revenue is because of the discounts. :thumbsup2

Disney actually specified that the increased revenue this year so far was due to scaling back discounts.

So I think we can expect to see less in the years to come, especially with the new Fantasyland opening soon.

I think discounts will continue on non-holiday time.. and room prices will keep increasing to appear to be a better deal. IE FQ costs 280 a night with a 25% off rate... Instead of 224$ at full price. With the appearance of a better deal.
