We are off to HH for the first time in July! Having got the golf sorted I now need advice re where to eat.......both close by at Shelter Cove and elsewhere! Also, if there is anywhere we should avoid!!! Can you get a cooked breakfast at Disney's HH resort? Where is the nearest supermarket?
Many thanks

Hello,

We always plan to eat at Shelter Cove on Tuesday. This is fireworks night. If you leave the resort you will have a tough time getting back in and finding a parking spot. We walk over to Scott's Fishmarket for a fairly early dinner and then return to the resort to await the fireworks. The food is very good. We hand some seafood eaters as well as some red meat eaters and all were pleased.

You will see the Piggly Wiggly just before you get to the entrance to Shelter Cove. At the other end of the shopping center is Guiseppes Pizza (don't forget to ask for the DVC discount). Then top it off with some ice cream at Brusters next door.

Old Oyster Factory is also a must for us ( ask for the DVC discount too).

Tide Me Over has a few breakfast items like a build your own breakfast sandwich.

We do most of our cooking in the Villa. We shop at the Piggly Wiggly down the way. It's close and convenient. If you check in on Sunday, just remember that so do a lot of people, so head to the grocery store early in the day to find the best selections.

Last summer we tried the Sea Shack. It's definately on our return list. Our kids like Salty Dog -- we could take it or leave it. We have dined at San Miguel's over in Shelter Cove several times and had good meals there too.

We'll be there the end of July as well. This will be our 6th summer trip and we absolutely love it. I hope you will too! Have a great trip!

There is a small resturant called Parrot's Cove Cafe at Shelter Cove and you can obtain discounted gift certificates on resturants.com.

There is a wealth of dining options available at HH with over 300 restaurants from which to choose. Right near the resort at Shelter Cove (within 5 minutes walking) we enjoy Scott's Fishmarket. Also at Shelter Cove is the Kingfisher and San Miguel's. A short drive away you might enjoy Alexander's (it's on the right as you go to the beach), Giuseppi's (pizza), Old Fort Pub, Hudson's, The Old Oyster Factory, Cafe Europa, Salty Dog Cafe and many others. You will get a list at check-in- and many will have a discount for DVC guests.

Shelter Cove Mall is right next to the resort and there is a Piggly Wiggly grocery store right there as well a few dining options (Fudruckers (hamburgers) and Giuseppi's (already mentioned above).

We've liked Cafe Europa and Hudson's for lunch. We haven't yet tried, but have heard good things about Old Fort Pub.

San Miguel's for good food, huge quantity and good price.

Old Oyster Factory is okay. I think it is way overpriced. I think Kingfisher is over priced too. Crazy Crab had great seafood and was more reasonable than some of the other seafood restaurants.

Salty God is pretty good.

Guiseppi's Pizza is great!

We have yet to get to Hudson's, maybe next time.

Will HHI store your perishable groceries, like other DVC resorts, at check-in until your room is ready?

Yes they will. We did this last summer but I have to tell you, their storage consists of 1 regular size refrigerator. So, if a lot of families are doing this, space could be at a premium.

We head to Piggly Wiggly to buy groceries. We always eat a lunch at Salty Dog. It is just a fun place, especailly to eat outdoors. We went to the Old Oyster Factory last trip and will be back again. It was higher priced than other places, but a nice treat and we really enjoyed the food. We also go to Guiseppi's Pizza each visit!

Have a wonderful trip.

I haven't seen Marley's mentioned yet. It's pretty good with a Jamaican flair. You shouldn't miss Signe's for breakfast or lunch. It's great too! And another vote for Old Oyster Factory!

Just back this week, our check at the Old Oyster Factory was just under our check at the Crazy Crab (after DVC discount) and we thought the food was much better at the Old Oyster Factory. Of course it depends on what you order, but most of the entrees were about $20 at each place. After reading so many negative reviews here, I was hesitant to go to the Old Oyster Factory, but it was our best dinner of the week. JMHO.

Hi all - we just returned from 5 AMAZING days at HHI - our first (but not last) trip. We had really great meals (Marley's, Sea Shack, Redfish, The Barony Grill at the Westin, Wild Wing Cafe, Stacks for creme brulee french toast) - our only disappointing meal was at Scott's. Three meals were served lukewarm while my DH's was really hot, the bacon on the bacon-wrapped scallops was barely cooked, the mahi mahi was overcooked and the rice was crunchy. They did make good drinks though - we had the Shark Bite, the pineapple martini and a mojito...

Have a great trip...

One word: EARLY BIRD SPECIALS. :teeth:

The only problem is you have to eat early. Lots of restaurants have them. I think Alexander's has them. They're usually close to half off.
