Looking for a recommended gps with voice command, that won't cost a fortune.the Garmin 3597 seems to be the best out there, but I don't really want to spend that much.Want to take it with me too when I go back to Oahu. Thanks!

I have loved three Garmins, but never felt the need for one with voice command. Will you be alone on the trip? If not, someone can easily enter the destination for you.

I would only buy one now with lifetime free map upgrades. The ones with lane guidance are nice also. I get the bigger screen and lifetime traffic, but the traffic isn't always really helpful.

On a business trip recently it helped me go around a wreck to get to work, but offered no warning at all to the one hour delay going back to the hotel.

We have had a garmin for several years and it has been a Godsend. There are probably fancier ones available now, but it still gets the jobs done for us. I bought a lifetime map update a couple years back when we went to California.

Another vote for Garmin. I strayed and got a Tom Tom one year. BIG mistake. Almost took that thing and chucked it out the window on the highway!

On Amazon search Garmin LMT...there are plenty of choices from $99+. Size changes the price, although the smallest is fine for me. And I would consider Bluetooth if your daily vehicle isn't equipped with it. You can get a LMT (lifetime maps and traffic) with Bluetooth for $140.

100% Garmin I have traffic updates and plan to get one that has free maps butmine is stillgoing so I am waiting. I enter about 20 addresses 3 times a week and have never had a issue using garmins they last so well, even with high use.

What didn't you like with Tom Tom? I have a Tom Tom that I am always lending out because people can't get their company issued Garmins to work. To be honest, I think they just don't want to take the 5 minutes to read the operating manual, but most of them can grab my Tom Tom and go.

Garmin 2595LMTHD. Got it at Costco.

From now to 12/15 it is $30 off and free shipping.

I like my garmin and have had no issues with it, I personally found it easier to use than my dad's Tom Tom.

We have a Garmin in one car and a Tom Tom in the other.
We much prefer the Garmin because the Tom Tom takes over 5 minutes to find the satellite each time--it has taken 15 to 20 at times. It does not hold the charge as well either. It is really frustrating knowing how much better our older Garmin works.

Got an iphone? Take a look at the Waze app. It's free.

I've been playing with it. One nice thing it alerts you when you approach an intersection that has intersection traffic camera. Also gas stations along your route with prices.

I love Waze!

Google Maps on my smartphone has the best navigation in my opinion, but if you need a standalone GPS unit, definitely choose Garmin.

Just saw the Garmin 2595 at Costco with $30.00 off until Dec 15. Total cost would be $139.99 plus tax.
