Looking for some creative DIS advice.

MY DH and I are flying via SWA on two separate flights. Our friends (DW + DH) are flying with 3 young children 2, 5 & 6 via JetBlue the next day. Two of the three are *extremely* high energy and must be under extra supervision.

They will have their luggage, 3 car seats and one stroller. We will meet them at MCO with a minivan.

Renting car seats via the car rental agency is not an option for a variety of health and safety reasons.

We are thinking of maybe taking their checked bags with us the day before? We can't take the seats in advance because they need them to get to the airport. Can booster seats be packed in something together? How do those parents of quints do it...

Any creative advice on lightening the load?

Thanks in advance!

Would they consider getting those inflatable boosters for the 2 older kids? That way, they'll only have the 2 year old's seat to deal with. There's probably no way around that one since he or she is most certainly still in a 5 point harness.

oohh I don't know what that is. Will Google - thank you!

Ok not sure what the issue is here - I have 3 kids am a widow and successfully fly often?

If you take a bag or two it would take the pressure off them for sure especially if cost is an issue since you can each check an extra bag for free. FWIW car seats and other baby essentials can be checked for free with jet blue - so they can (and should) bring the car seat onboard for the 2yo to use during the flight and then they can check the boosters for free with jet blue in addition to the checked bag allowance, they can also carry on the booster seats and place them in the overhead if they prefer. The stroller can be gate checked so they can use it through the airport, get a gate check tag at the gate, leave at the airplane door and retrieve it at the door when they deplane.

they do know that boosters that use the lap belts, not harnesses, can not be used on planes correct. only problem with checking seats/boosters is they can fall off and hit concrete while being loaded on plane. and you would not know and it could damage seat. not sure if possible be see if any of the baby supply rentals have boosters. have it delivered to you so you have it to bring to airport. and yes I have seen a number of seats fall being loaded an plane so that is not the safest route to go and as said earlier boosters are not able to be used on planes. have seen it happen more with gate checked than prechecked. talk with parents about this and case they haven't seen this happen and they can be thrown around loading

Thank you - the mom is planning on putting the boosters in carry-on luggage. They aren't the cool inflatable ones but are small enough to carry aboard. One parent is an engineer - will point out the harness/lap/plane issue.

if they are the backless ones I would look at buying some at Walmart/Target when you guys get down or on your way to the airport. would be cheaper than rental as backless are not allowed to be used on plane at all. that way they could just leave theirs in their car at airport. and I say this as a grandmother who travels grandkids every day. might cost around $25 for each booster needed but what is that in the price of whole trip

You are so very right about that! I think we should order from Amazon and ship to the resort. I will be there the day before so they can be brought to the airport for pick-up. When you consider the price of the tickets and dinner - $50 is almost meaningless.

then they do not have to worry about overhead bin space and possible gate check at last minute plus less to lug thru airport. I have read that that they are charging for packages shipped to resorts so be prepared for that. think you have solved the problem. have a great trip. we were down 6 months ago with 6 grandkids and their parents for a great trip

CHARGING for packages delivered? How much? All resorts? DVC stays? Yikes

I know Swan and Dolphin aren't accepting deliveries for guests at all and I think the WDW convention resorts have started charging for deliveries, CSR, CR and BC are the ones I read about.

As far as the booster seats, if you do purchase new seats just for this trip consider donating them when you leave, an organization like Give Kids the World may want them. Alternately look into the bubble bum inflatable boosters mentioned above; they aren't much more expensive ( $5.00 ish?) - with the ages of the kids mentioned they would probably be used in future trips.

I would never take car seats to Disney, but if that's the situation, then yes, I'd def. spend the extra money and get 2 of the bumble bum inflatable car seats for the older 2. My dsis used one for an Uber trip a few times during our last stay for her 4 year old and it worked great.

WDW Convention Resorts have been charging for deliveries to the Convention Center for years. The fee is based on the size and weight of the package. You also have to pick it up yourself
The new fee is for packages mailed to the Front Desk via USPS. I have read that it is $5/package. But I have also read that, contrary to what was posted, not all resorts are charging.

We weren't going to do a rental car this time because of the seats but then once I started thinking through the logistics and cost of renting at MCO and returning to WDW; the time wasted on the bus loops through OKW; the wait at Disney Springs; getting to the dining reservations; the convenience of running to the stores whenever; ability to eat off site when we all get tired of the $$ for meals and the 3 hours DME requires when leaving plus where do you keep your carry on stuff (answer = in the car!), it became obvious I needed to get the minivan.

In all the years & trips, we went semi car-less twice (drove in from airport for grocery run and then returned it onsite or near onsite). NOT A FAN. But every trip, I convince myself that I can forgo the rental $ and those fees $$$ using WDW transportation and then I PANIC; research everything and get the $#%^ car.
