Recommendations on flat irons

My DD is asking for a K-Styler( Kiyoseki) flat iron for Christmas. She already has a CHI but she tried this K-Styler at a friend and said it worked great. I was reading some reviews on it and they were not very positive. Any comments out there? She has really thick long hair. Are there any others that yall would recommend? Thanks in advance for the help.

Why does she need to upgrade from a Chi? If the Chi works fine and there is nothing wrong with it, then she should continue to use it until she saves up to buy her own K-Styler.
A Chi is not a cheap iron and should be prefectly good for any teenager.

I have the newest version of the Paul Mitchell, the 1.5" one. Love it. I was lucky enough to get it off craigslist for $100. I don't have thick hair, but lots per square inch, naturally curly, and this thing is amazing!

Check on Ulta. I bought DD17 one last year from there. It was over $100 and I got it for $29. They have them this year for that price too. They are really bright colored too!!
