Recommendations for staying off resort?

You should read @Portugal1000 's trip report from last year. It's like the most relaxing Orlando trip!!

Based on the great feedback from them and others we are planning on using Bonnet Creek next year for a non Disney parks trip

That's good to hear. It really was a good trip and definitely more relaxing. I am still amazed that Bonnet Creek hasn't caught on with the British. Did hear one other English accent last year but its very unusual. Such a great resort and an absolute bargain compared to a lot of places.

I think the reason for less Brits is that it's not available as a package with the TAs from what I've seen. As much as there is a massive DIY effort for holidays on The Dis, I think in general the majority book a package.
