My DH wants satellite radio to primarily use in the car and is most interested in Sirius (spelling??). Can anyone recommend brands/accessories that are good to have? I don't want to go into buying this without some knowledge, but at this point, I'm basically clueless in what's needed... :flower:

Thanks!!! :sunny:

I was in the same situation with my husband this summer. Really check out both sports and programming and see which one you husband would listen to/watch more. For my husband we did XM, as it has baseball and hockey, the know sirus has football, but my husband is normally home on Sunday's anyway.

Good Luck, I know my husband as been very happy with XM.

I got my husband an XM. Got a dock for the car and bought a separate dock for his office. When he gets to work, he takes his radio out and plugs it into the unit in the office. Without knowing we both got each other XM for Christmas last year! Instead of buying an additional dock for the house, he bought me a boom box like unit for when I'm home. We really like this system. My son would love to have the personal mobile unit. There are a lot of choices out there! Good luck!

My hubby bought a Sirius for himself with a car kit docking station(which you will need) and the subscription 12.95 I think a month for a year. Well I totally took it over on him I LOVE it!!! He ended up buying himself another one and giving the first one to me!!! We had to buy another car kit and another subscription for 6.95 I think a month (you can put up to 4 subscriptions off your original one for 6.95 a month). We also bought a boom box docking station for the house and a car docking station for the motor home so we just take the radio and move it to where ever we want to. So for my Dad's birthday we bought him one with six months subscription (his birthday is in June) and so for Christmas we just bought him another 6 months. It's great becuase he is so hard to buy for and he loves it. My girlfriend has XM, it came with her new car. She said she likes my Sirius better. That is just her oppinion. I am not selling one brand or another I am just telling you my experiences. If you have any more specific questions let me know. I hope this helps

;) I am having the hardest time deciding between the 2. My DH is a HUGE Yankee fan(but we watch all the games when we are home and can get most others on the radio when we are out.....) But he is also a HUGE Howard Stern Fan. So I think he would really prefer the Sirius one. I think I am leaning toward that one..If they only had MLB on there it would make my life a lot easier.

My new car came with a 6mos free trial of XM radio and I loved it so much that I signed up for another year. XM offers price breaks for paying in advance for 1, 2, or 3 years. I paid for one year because who knows where radio will be a year from now - and I paid $13/mo. I think the 3 year rate was about $10/mo.

A REALLY COOL thing about XM radio is that they recently fired up 3 holiday stations. They play nothing but holiday tunes - one is pop, one is country, and the other is classical. When the holidays are over, I'll go back to the 24/7 disco music;) NO commercials!! I love it! BTW, Radio Disney does have commercials on their station - go figure.
