On our last trip, my suitcase got a big tear in it, and then also got majorly mildewed in my basement. So I need to get a new suitcase. Spirit just lowered their weight limits on baggage to 40 lbs, so I would like to get a new suitcase that is lightweight. Anyone have recommendations on lightweight luggage that is also durable. I would like to have the 360 degree spinning wheels, but they aren't a necessity.

it is not cheap at all but I love Tumi it lasts and last and they stand behind their product. I had a piece break after a few years I sent it to them to fix and they gave me a brand new suitcase.

I also just bought a quickload duffle bag from LL Bean it was around $70.00 I used it to pack for a 4 day trip it held a lot (I bring everything but the kitchen sink with me when I travel)

I hope this helps

Samsonite, the hard cased luggage. My set is light weight, extremely roomy and it has the 360 swivel which makes it easy to push.

We got ours from a Samsonite outlet. Not sure if you have outlets near you but if you do they are normally buy 1 get one half off. :thumbsup2

Heys luggage. We got a set of two with one large and one smaller (carry on size) Very lightweight and lots of room. It was $99 for both at Sams Club. Also try TJMaxx, they sometimes carry them. Good Luck

Pretty sure I saw the wheeled duffles in the sale section on LLB's website. you can get extra 30% off through 2/22 with code JPA4393
.

I switched to Tumi and I'm not interested in any other brand now. I travel a lot for business and this is the only durable luggage I've had that was light enough for me to easily handle.

I also suggest LL Bean's duffles. They're lightweight and very rugged. I've seen them take a heck of a beating from teens as a summer camp counselor and they hold up really, really well.

also think about lightweight clothing. Patagonia's capalene fabric is light, small, and very comfortable.

We also use the LLBean rolling duffels. As long as you don't mind that they don't stand upright- they are awesome! If you take a lot of trains or subways when you travel it can be a pain they don't stand up, but traveling through airports I have never minded it. They weigh about 8-9 pounds for the large size (XL can exceed size limits when fully packed).

Last week American Airlines sent mine to Guatemala instead of Orlando and it came back looking fine!
