Recommendations for halfboard premium vouchers please!!

Hi,

Am staying in the DLH for 4 nights in June and have paid for the premium halfboard vouchers. (Am so excited!!!)

Being our first trip I would appreciate peoples opinions on the best use of these EXPENSIVE vouchers!! We have two girls aged 4 and 7.

From reading other threads i am thinking about Inventions (Californian Grill seems a bit upmarket for my youngest who is a fussy eater!)
Buffalo Bills sounds good (Is it going to be suitable for my 4 year old?).
Can you use the vouchers to pay for the princess meal or not? ( tried looking on the DLRP website for restaurants you can choose from but couldnt find it!)

We also got the premium option as well for our trip next month!

We have two daughters, ages 4 and 8. We are using our vouches for Buffalo Bills and the character dinner in Inventions as the lovely people on this board were kind enough to advise me about.

I have not been to either but I think it'll be great fun! I've heard Buffalo Bill's is great fun for the 4 year old as well.

Inventions is a lovely buffet. California Grill is wonderful and we'll be eating there next month with our children who are quite fussy. To be honest if you just wanted plain pasta with parmesan they'd do it for you so I wouldn't worry too much. CG doesn't have characters though and is definitely a more adult experience although perfectly OK for children. Auberge is payable with the premium vouchers although very recently there are question marks on whether they allow you to include the wine with this. Haven't been to Buffalo Bills, but its certainly fine for a 4 yr old. Blue Lagoon has mixed reviews - its a lovely setting but we have had 2 bad meals there, other people have loved it.

We had the premium vouchers last week and ate with our 9 yr old daughter at california Grill and she loved it, Inventions (fantastic as usual) and Auberge- - again a fantastic meal.
We were told they no longer give alcohol with the vouchers but let us have a glass of wine for free

I forgot to say- although CG is a often seen as a more adult restaurant it was still very relaxed about children. There were a lot of children in there when we went and the waiter was lovely and kept calling DD Princess.

if you are insure about eating here you could always do Inventions twice as you would possibly get totally different food - I know I wouldnt object to eating there 2 nights during a holiday

We were also there last week for 4 nights with HB Premium vouchers. We used them at Inventions, California Grill, Auberge de Cendrillon and Buffalo Bills. Other alternatives may be Walts (I didn't realise until we got in there that they also do a HB Premium menu) or the Steakhouse (although not at Sunday Brunch time)

I'd think about maybe eating in:

Inventions
Auberge
Cafe Mickey

Your DD's should love all of these as they all happen to be character meals and the food is good as well.

I'd also take a look at the california grill menu and see if there's anything on there for your 4 year old. If there is, then I'd definitely pick that as your fourth. It's not a character meal, but the food and service is better than anything else at DLRP (including Inventions in my opinion).

If not, then I'd personally pick one from:

Steakhouse (in the village)
Walts
Silver Spur
Blue Lagoon
Rendez-vouz Des Stars

All of these are very nice places to eat - Blue Lagoon is a lovely setting though it seems to get mixed reviews, but all of them do good food.

We had premium in January I think you deffintly have to do

Buffalo Bills It was amasing it really was good value as it was meant to be more like 55E each

California Grill was amasing and the food was soooo yummy

with kids i would deffintly do Auberge it looked so lovely but my and DFi were worried about being out of place as we dont have kids

and Inventions gets great reviews

its such a shame annets dont do a premium menu because ilove it in there and would recomend it to every one

When booking over the phone do you tell them you have vouchers and if we were to change our mind once we got there could we cancel a booked meal and rebook somewhere else or is this not possible!

Also as we are not leaving till about 1930 on Eurostar we will need to eat the last night (all vouchers will have been used up!) What is a good value meal?

Also is it best to eat at lunch or dinner time or is it just a case of personal preference?

oh deffintly go to annetts then its amasing and they do a set menu a drink main and desert for about 16E's i think some one else mightno for sure though

you can go to city hall for cancelations and booking meals but if its busy you might find it hard to re book another meal

Booking over the phone generally just makes a reservation - there are some meals tha tyou can pre-pay but you can decline this and pay at the restaurant.

You can cancel and change your bookings as much as you like and without penalty.

Annette's is ok value. Your other option would be to not use a voucher in the week (possibly eat somewhere like Rendez-Vous des stars which is a reasonably priced buffet at a little ofer 20 euros each), then save your last voucher for the last evening (this is what we did last month).

Lunch seems to be quieter for some places (e.g. Cafe Mickey) but sometimes the meal is different at lunch. For example Inventions is not a character buffet at lunch (it's a regular buffet), California Grill doesn't open for lunch and many of the park restaurants are only open at lunch time (depending on the park closing time).
