Recommendations For Camping in South Georgia?

We are leaving Southern Ohio this Saturday to spend Thanksgiving week at Fort Wilderness  and plan to stop somewhere in South Georgia along the I-75 corridor for the night.

Any recommendations for a campground? Since it is Thanksgiving week, should we make reservations for our over-night or will it be okay to just make a list of possibilities and stop when we get tired?

Thank you for your advice!

I was looking for the same information. It seems like I remember someone posting about a welcome center in southern georgia (maybe Tipton) that allows over night parking for TT and RVs. Could someone give me info about that? Planning a "spur of the moment" trip 1st week on January and need to save as much money as possible on the way down.

We usually stop in Valdosta, GA. There is a Walmart at exit 16 on I-75 that allows overnight parking, you will not be alone, it is a popular spot.

Eagle's Roost, exit 5 off I75. We stay there every trip. We live 5 hours from there, it's about 3 - 3 1/2 hours from the Fort. The campground is nice, the people are great and there's spanish moss hanging from EVERY tree in the place! :)
Just made our reservation there for 12/16 on Friday. WOO HOO!
