Recommendations for best beach near DLR?

I want to add a beach day to our trip...suggestions for the best one?

Huntington Beach is our favorite.

Just south (literally a street or two) is Corona Del Mar. The perfect crescent shape beach around the Newport Area. This is the one for you!

Looking south down the beach

After that you could head back up to Newport Beach for a sunset cruise. $15 or so per person and they take you around the harbor and show you Stars homes and then out onto the ocean to see the sunset. Great day.

We did Huntington beach and had fun we rented a car from the DTD location and it was about 30 min away. There are a few pics on my trip report from that day (at the end) at:

Ifwe are staying at a hotel outside the gates, can we take a cab to the beach? I too was wanting to add on a beach day, Most likely will stay at Howard Johnson's. s there a bus???? thanks.
