Recommendations for a hotel at LGW?

We stayed at the Travelodge last Sept and i have just booked it again for this Sept.

The hotel isn't anything special, but it is clean and comfortable and for an overnight stay its ideal. We paid £26 for the night last year but just managed to get the room for £15 for the 10th Sept this year!!!:cool1: Thats for a family room for the 4 of us.

Its only 5 mins from the airport and they have a shuttle bus or you can just get a cab like we did.

I couldnt imagine paying out over £100 for one night when the Travelodge is so cheap and it suits our needs.:thumbsup2

We have ALWAYS stayed at the Travelodge until last August when, shall we say, there was an issue with cleanliness in the room (I'm being VERY polite). The duty manager was appalled and personally assisted us moving to another room, gave us an immediate refund, gave us free breakfast vouchers for the whole family, and arranged to send us two vouchers for free stays at any Travelodge anywhere in the UK. Despite this, I will NOT stay there again.

After the holiday, we stayed in the Travelodge at Dartford and whilst there my DD6 suffered an injury which Travelodge financially compensated us for within a week.

However, I have stayed in other Travelodge acomodation before and since and found them to be superb.

Our stay at the Hilton for one night on 31 Jan was very good, couldn't fault it. The boys liked the bunk beds and the breakfast was really good. Booked thru holiday extras. Nothing beats that 'I'm at the airport' feeling!

the Sofitel gets my vote too - we always use it when flying out of the UK to come back home here.

Great beds, rooms nice and large, we book the 5th floor overlooking the runway so the kids can see the planes landing. Room service is nice - and this year we got breakfast in the room which was actually more convenient than going into the terminal for me with 2 kids under 4 years and hubby not travelling with us! Just fed them infront the TV and off we went.

Where did you get such a brillant offer on Holiday Inn? :thumbsup2 Thanks Kx

:dance3: emmmm pillock alert, sorry for the bum steer (can i say that on the dis?) :rotfl: it was travelodge we stayed at, NOT the holiday inn, DAMN THIS ALZHEIMERS!!!!! lol. sorry all, :sad2:

Its amazing how peoples experiences can differ so much at the same place.:confused3
Very sorry to hear you had problems, we stayed there the month after you and had no complaints hence us booking again.
I don't blame you not wanting to book again after a bad experience.
The Travelodge is currently having a face lift which is good. But no complaints from us. Just pleased to save more money to go towards our spending money.:cool1:

We have booked the Travelodge , 2 family rooms at £15 each . As long as they are clean and comfortable enough i am not worried as we will be too excited to sleep anyway ! We are going in May . I could no way pay £269 like the Hilton were asking on principle !

Thanx all, looks like we'll maybe give Travellodge a try, i think Dh wants to try it. If it's not good then we just wont go there again, but at £15, As long as the room and beds are clean then i'm sure it'll be ok.
Cheers!

we have just booked the travelodge from manchester...£15 per room also :cool1:

and we also booked the meet and greet at manchester for the car :)

We stayed at the Ramada Plaza - about 4 miles from Gatwick - last December. Booked through Virgin Holidays but I'm sure you can get it cheaper :)

We got a family room which was a really good size, clean and comfortable. There is an airport shuttle service which wasn't free but was cheap :thumbsup2

Certainly would consider it again.

Tracey
