Hi Guys and Gals!

Any recommendations for which hotel to stay at at LGW, looking to stay one night, no parking needed and freferably not miles away. Have stayed in both Hilton and the (then) Le Meridien before. Would not mind staying there again, What do you think? Are there any more hotels quite near by?:confused3 Forgot to say there will be my Dh, me and my Dd(16) so will need a family room.
Thanx, Audrey:)

I don't think that you can beat the Sofitel (Le Meridien) for quality and convenience (the Hilton is equally convenient, but have heard conflicting reports regarding quality... think it very much depends on which room you get).

The Gatwick Holiday Inn has received very good reports/reviews, but I am not sure that I would give up the in-terminal convenience of the Sofitel...

Ooh yes, bookign a hotel at LGW is next on my hit list! I just want it to be as close as possible :thumbsup2

hi
we looked into them all and decided softiel was the nicest one, if you join up for there loyalty cards theres perks as well.

Have a nice holiday x

We stayed at the Hilton in December and it was great! The rooms were immaculate and the staff were very friendly - food is a bit on the expensive side but you can walk to the terminal for more choices!

We had friends who stayed at the holiday inn this year and said they wont do it again - nice enought hotel but there was 1 bus every hour and therefore less convenient!

That's what I think - you could get taxis and things, but nothing beats being able to walk a couple of 100 yards into the terminal...

All this talk about Gatwick hotels just made me book mine for September - the Sofitel (through the hotel's website, a park and fly package).

How far away is the Sofitel? We are getting a lift to/from gatwick so i dotn want parking.

Hilton is workign out at £123 per night at the moment.

Anyone know the web site for sofitel?

Sofitel is what used to be known as Le Meridian, it's on-site as well just like Hilton but on the oposite side.

www.sofitel.com

Its a site for all there hotels, you can get there info up on there, they are also just a walkway to the north terminal.

I got a cheaper rate by emailing them, than they offered on the web.

Sofitel is connected to the North Terminal (BA etc). Hilton is a short walk from the South Terminal (VS etc). The two terminals are connected by a very fast, very frequent monorail service - so it is very quick and easy to get from one terminal to the other (even with luggage). So we have stayed at the Sofitel even when we flew VS...

Are there any other hotels apart from Hilton/Sofitel that are within walking distance of the airport?
Thanx Audrey

Not that I can think of as the Sofitel and Hilton are actually attached to their respective terminal.

Claire ;)

try the travel inn much cheaper than the other two suggested and a 5 min walk away from the sofitel terminal. They have a bus usually included in the room rate if you don't want to walk and have family rooms
We've stayed loads of times and they do on site parking too at reasonable rates if you need it

Fit like mi quine, :rotfl:
We stayed at the holiday inn just last October before flying out to the land,
managed to get a special offer of just £35 for the three of us for the night, room was nothing special but it was clean, one of the lifts was out of order too which was a pain with the cases in tow, but should be ok now i guess,
the food in the restaurant was actually quite nice and not overly expensive,
i dont much fancy walking to the terminal, would have been a bit of a hike with luggage, but a taxi only cost a fiver, so just as easy getting one of those, theres a free courtesy phone for taxis at the reception,
all in all a good deal for us!!!!

We've got a family room in the Copthorne with 15 days parking in August for £128.70.

We stayed at the Travelodge last Sept and i have just booked it again for this Sept.

The hotel isn't anything special, but it is clean and comfortable and for an overnight stay its ideal. We paid £26 for the night last year but just managed to get the room for £15 for the 10th Sept this year!!!:cool1: Thats for a family room for the 4 of us.

Its only 5 mins from the airport and they have a shuttle bus or you can just get a cab like we did.

I couldnt imagine paying out over £100 for one night when the Travelodge is so cheap and it suits our needs.:thumbsup2

Where did you get such a brillant offer on Holiday Inn? :thumbsup2 Thanks Kx

If you basically just want a room overnight, then you can't beat Travel Inn, as mentioned by yummy mummy, we have stayed there loads of times.
It is within walking distance of North Terminal & you can catch the monorail to South. However, if you have cases etc I would take the transfer bus to the terminal which runs frequently.
