Recommendations for a good $200-$300 digi camera?

I really love the Kodak Easy Share system, and am on my third Kodak. While I am able to use it, I find that when I ask others to take a pic of DH and I, or a family member uses it, a lot of the photos turn out blurry.

I think I need something with IS, which this camera doesn't have.

Any recommendations? I would love to stick with Kodak, but am not tied to it. I would like more of a point and shoot type (but I like the pre-set settings for night, etc.)

Thanks!

Any chance you could post a few "blurry" pictures? We could help more that way.

However, I think if your family members get blurry pictures and yours are fine then most likely its down to improper use instead of IS.

That's what I'm thinking. I'm assuming you are using an auto focus camera. Possibly the family members are not pressing the shutter release half way down to allow the camera to auto focus and then fully pressing the shutter release :confused3

You are both probably right about their not using the camera correctly, but I've come home from my last two vacations with 25% of my photos not being usable (either family members have taken the pics, or CMs and other guests). Either way, I'm missing photos that I want to use for framing and scrapping, and I'm willing ot invest in something that other people can more easily use.

I'll try to see if I can find any of the bad ones... I usually delete them once I know they're fuzzy.

The problem is that, in my opinion, the Kodak easyshare is about as "easy" as cameras get. Kodak specifically targets most of these cameras to those that may be intimidated by them.

I had my mom buy the Canon Powershot SD960IS based on reviews/price. She ordered off amazon a few weeks ago before we left for our trip. She only spent a few days playing around with it beforehand but loved using it on our trip. She got some really good shots from it. I'd recommend ordering a second battery for it though. She got a second from Radio Shack for $15.99 (the one from Best Buy was $65).

For a P&S I have the SD800IS that's a few years old and I love it. All of the elph series is great that I've seen.
