Does anyone have any recommendations for a good speaker to put in the bathroom? I'd love to start listening to my Disney podcasts in the shower as a great way to start my day.

Any recommendations on brands or stores?

Thanks!

You must have WAY more hot water in the morning than me :(

This is one of those threads that you have to read more than the title. I read the title and thought, what kind of bridal/baby shower are you having for someone that there is going to be a speaker.

Me too!

Probably not, but I've started listening to my podcasts in the morning while I'm getting ready and it's always a bummer when I turn on the shower and can no longer hear it.

No suggestions anyone? Oh well :( I tried checking on consumer search.com, but there were no reviews on shower speakers....

We have a Grace Radio that streams Pandora, DTunes Live and other music (ie. from our Media Server) It's pretty loud and is wireless outside the A/C plug. It's not really waterproof but we keep it on the sink counter and it has no issues with the steam. I don't listen to PodCasts, but I'm thinking if they either are a stream that has internet address or a download it should be able to play them.

We bought ours just before Ultimate Electronics closed for about $50, but they usually run around $100.

I just bring my iHome into the bathroom with me when I am showering and getting ready and plug it in on the counter. It works out fine for me, but I am sure someone will come on here with a great suggestion for a fancy built in sound system. My Uncle just built a new house and he has a built in sound system that goes through the entire house, including the bathrooms and the huge wraparound porch, and it is AWESOME.

Me three! Then I thought she needed speakers in the bathroom so the guests could listen to music in there at the shower.

Umm... Take quicker showers?

Wow, thanks for the pointless advice that had zero to do with my question.

Thank you-I will have to check that out! I always download my podcasts through my phone-just looking for a speaker loud enough to hear over the shower water stream.

We have an Ihome, but it's for our old school IPOD that does not have access to internet. I'm not sure my cell phone will hook into the Ihome, but I should check that out because that would be a great solution!

You're quite welcome, but it certainly is the least costly answer to your question. It was pretty much in line with the comment that you must have a LOT of hot water. (Nothing wrong with that, mind you.) Waterproof speakers -- which is what you would need -- aren't cheap. And anything that's NOT waterproof, even if you keep it away from the shower, is going to get wet from condensation, shortening the service life greatly. That's why we've gone through so many clocks in our bathroom.

Unless you take really, really looooooooooooooong showers, I honestly think that just living without your radio for those few minutes is the best solution.

The point is my question was seeking a recommendation for a product-waterproof shower speakers/speakers for the bathroom. People purchase shower radios all the time-not sure why this would be any more strange of a purchase. My showers are actually about 10-15 minutes long, but that is really not the point of my question. I enjoy listening to my podcasts while I'm getting ready in the morning, so I am just looking for something that will make it so I can continue listening to it for my shower.

Anyways, thanks again for the budget tip, but it really had nothing to do with my question.

I have had my Grace Radio for about 3 years, still works great, always been in the bathroom, but then again, the vent system in my bathroom is pretty good. Additionally, between shower and getting ready, our bathroom radio is on for about 45 minutes in the morning, we don't listen to podcasts, but just having the music is nice.

As for your clocks going bad, if they are wall mounted that could explain it more, as condensation collects on the walls before it does counters, additionally, the mechanics tend to be a bit more exposed a clock then a radio.

I have a Bose SoundDock in my bathroom for this reason. I can charge my iPhone on it, so it acts as my alarm clock as well (and since I have to cross the bedroom to get to it, I don't hit snooze...as much).
I listen to music/podcasts when I shower and get ready in the morning and my husband bought me this for Mother's Day a couple of years ago so that I'd stop stealing the portable Bose we keep in the kitchen. Mine in the bedroom is not the portable kind, so it's a little slimmer than the portable dock.
