Hey all!

I was hoping that we would be able to stay at the Boardwalk for the entire time we would be down there, but it's not going to happen thanks to the economy! Oh well - no biggie! :)

I've never stayed at a moderate before - I've got POFQ on my room block, but according to the Disney website you can't have packages sent to your room if you stay there? Seems odd.

So if you all could recommend your resorts (or not if you didn't like them!) that would be uber-helpful! Also how hard is it to change rooms? We're thinking about doing Boardwalk Oct 11, 12, and 13th and then changing to the moderate.

Thanks muchly! -Meg

PS 7 MONTHS OUT AS OF TODAY!! WOOT WOOT! :woohoo:

That is strange, I have stayed at POFQ and I remember picking up my packages at the gift shop there... maybe give WDW a call to verify, but I HAVE had delivery there, unless it has changed but that seems odd... Anyways, I love POFQ, it is very romantic and fun, I also like POR but I would check b/c I know their pool is being rehabed right now, but I think it will be done before your wedding

I didn't stay there for my wedding but the Port orleans riverside is very quiet and romantic. :goodvibes

Love Port Orleans Riverside and yes, you can have packages sent there. Depending on when your wedding is I would stay at the moderate first and then check into the Boardwalk. I think it will be anti climatic to go from deluxe to moderate.

We're going to be down there 10/8 - 10/20 and the wedding is 10/12. We're going to have our comp night at the Boardwalk and then pay for two extra nights. It's not what I planned but Hakuna Matata!

How are the bus rides from the POFQ and the POR? The only time I ever stayed on property was at the Contemporary. My dad is a Vistana owner, so we've always stayed there. I've never done bus transport down there before.

I'm really glad to hear that I can still have pkgs sent. I loved that when I stayed at Disney!!! :thumbsup2

Port Orleans is definitely the best, but even though Riverside is newer, it is filled with more loud teens and is generally busier...it is a lot quieter and more romantic on the French Quarter side...and make sure to walk around and enjoy the lovely scenery and definitely use the boat transportation!! You just can't go wrong with that combination :)

Buses were fine at POFQ and POR (I stayed at both on different occassions) and I never had any problem or ridiculous waits... the buses are good, but the best part of POR or POFQ are the boats to DTD, so nice, and such a great perk of a moderate resort. Very romantic:thumbsup2

POR is pretty but I couldn't stand it there..I'd rather stay at a value.

If I had to pick all over again, I would have picked CSR or CBR. I hear really great things about CSR and a ton of beautiful pictures from there. You don't see too many reviews of CSR on here, but when you do they are always positive.

Why didn't you like it there? CSR is a lot of fun but I guess I just associate it with meetings and conventions because every year my mom had a meeting she would bring us and we always stayed there. But they do have a great pool!

we were told by our planner that the port orleans was the way to go here.... however if you read some of my posts about my planner I guess you may want to take it with a grain of salt.

However don't over stress over it, I am sure what ever you pick, you will enjoy it.

I really like the french quarter. The negative is that they don't have a sit down restaurant unless you consider riverside to be part of the hotel. The beignets are super yummy. Its the only moderate that I would ever consider staying at and I am really not a fan of the all-stars. We spent 3 weeks at all-star sports after it opened - that was enough for me.

I guess one of the reasons why I really like it is because its a small hotel - there is only one bus stop and you don't have to walk really far to find everything. Its really quiet and peaceful. There are little fountains and formal gardens all over the place. I always think of it as the perfect atmosphere to find a great bench and read a good book. All of the other moderates are huge and if you aren't familiar you have to use a map to get around.

I just think the French Quarter has a lot of charm and is well themed. Out of all the disney hotels its probably my favorite.

Let us know what you pick! =o)

I love POFQ. We are staying there for our honeymooon I think. It's really romantic. The atmosphere it great. Request a King Room with a view of the lake in Building 6. That's what we did and it was amazing. Building 6 is away from all the noise of the pool and loby. It isn't a far walk to the bus stop and it's closest to the river. I have pics of our room and view if you want to see them.

CSR is a convention center resort so I would keep that in mind when making a choice, it is very large. I think it all comes down to personal preference. I agree, the boat from POR and POFQ is nice!

I agree with the others, POR or POFQ are beautiful, I think POR is a little more romantic maybe. The boat is nice, and I've read tons of good reviews from there. There are a few honeymoon TRs on here from people that stayed at POR and fell in love with it! CSR is beautiful too, but it is awfully big and spread out. Really, you can't make a bad choice! Good luck!

But really, don't let anyone else's opinions make your decision. Decide what type of feel you are giong for, because all of the mods are so different. Look at lots of pictures, and maybe the types of food they have, the area they are in, and decide what means the most to you.

POR is a bit quieter than POFQ. I didn't find the bus rides to be bad, except at park closing. But when aren't the busses bad at park closing?

Thank you all!! :goodvibes

We decided to do the POFQ after debate, research and recommendations from you all! I've been to New Orleans before and I love the French Quarter! (Jambalaya, Gumbo, Beignets, and Pralines... YUM!) So I... urr we thought it would be perfect!

To all you POFQ fans - anything I should know - like a building to ask for or anything?

I don't think there is a specific building. People with kids like to be near the pool and the reception. I think longer walks to the room could be very romantic. The only thing I might ask about is a floor you want to be on. The first floor is always convenient because you don't have deal with stairs/elevators but then you have lots of people walking right past your room in the morning where as on higher floors I don't think you have as many people passing by.

We loved POFQ and are staying there for our honeymoon, spending the five days before the wedding at Pop.

We were in one of the furthest buildings from the pool and the main hub and the walk was less than five minutes! It's so small that, for us, it doesn't matter which building you stay in.

We also loved that it was quiet and so pretty.

I stayed in POR when it was Dixie Landings and, for us, POFQ just has the edge.
