My boyfriend and I are going to Orlando on August 24 and need to stop over v.close to Manchester airport on August 23. Can anyone recommend the best hotel to stay in at a reasonable cost? We don't require parking as we are coaching it there from Birmingham (the thought of driving back to Birmingham from Manchester at 7.30am on a Monday morning!!!) and we don't have any kids with us.

We are flying with Virgin, does any body know whether can we check in the night before?

:p

Not being familiar with Manchester airport I don't have any answers for you, sorry :(

Just bumping the thread up in the hope that someone can help.

We stayed at the Radisson before we travelled last October.

It's not cheap but it is a v. nice hotel.

It's also linked to the terminal via walkways. It was a 5 minute walk from the hotel to the check in desks, so no messing about first thing in the morning!

We stay at Holiday Inn Garden Court just over the road from airport. You can walk or there is a shuttle bus every half hour .

They have been taken over by Bewleys. www.bewleyshotels.com and rooms are £59 per night

i would also opt for the raddisson as i stayed there also before a flight to orlando and it is a very nice hotel with the best location but be sure to shop around for prices as they can differ, i actualy paid £70 a few years ago for a family room which i thought wasnt too bad good luck

Radisson gets our vote too. We stay there around three times a year. Ask for a room overlooking runway.
If you join Radisson on line you can get the room and breakfast for two for around £85.
The hotel starts my holiday a day earlier, and it is good to be actually in the airport. We usually go check in our bags and then walk back to the hotel for breakfast.

Can recommend Posthouse Manchester Airport, its in Virgin's brochure (towards back this year), we've used it three, perhaps four times.

A word of warning though - their standard deal (including the Virgin one) includes 15 nights car parking, so buy it separately, from likes of Thos Cook. Thye have an airport hotels brochure.

Last time we did this, we got a room for c.£75, booked well before hand (6m or so).

Hotel is on site and they offer 24 hour shuttles using Transit vans and very helpful/polite drivers.

Hi Julie Ann

I live approx. 20 mins from Mcr Airport. Holiday Inn and SAS Radisson are fine but another option is Etrop Grange. (see http://www.fine-individual-hotels.co.uk/etrop.htm).

A grade 2 listed building, smaller hotel with lots of character right at the end of the M56 which most visitors are unaware of. Still within walking distance of the airport but they run a 24hr courtesy service.

We use the place for business meetings. Prices tend to be similar to the bigger hotels but much more intimate and friendly.
