Hello all,

I am staying at Saratoga Springs in mid August for 1 week. It is a Fri to Fri week thru DVC (traded RCI points.)

I am looking for recommendations for a non-theme park hotel to stay Fri/Sat before flying back Sunday. We did Universal last year and I am not sure if I want to do Sea World. It is ridiculously expensive for 1 day. Thinking of actually just relaxing for 2 days in a nice hotel with some great pools and activites. I know I could just stay at Disney but the temptation to go to a park is too great. ;)

It will be my husband, 11 year DD and 4yr old DD and myself.

Thanks!

Why not a downtown Disney Hotel. The Hilton is great, and if you wanted to get a little Disney on without going nuts, you could stroll over to Downtown.

Well, I will play devil's advocate:wave2:. If you have a 6 or 7 day park pass, you can add another day or two for very little money. The kids might enjoy one of the values or if that does not apeal to you, choose a moderate or even a duluxe if it fits the budget. Point is, it might really be CHEAPER to do another park day rather than sea world or universal if that is what you really want.

Have you looked at the nick hotel? If you are determined to avoid a park but want something to do it's a pretty good pick. They have a huge water play area and also a nick char breakfast, movie theater, etc etc.
Also, its a suite hotel so the kids would have their own room ;)

The Nick hotel is a big no. I am thinking on the lines of the Gaylord or something. Just 2 nights in a beautiful hotel. No characters, no parks. Every time we come back from Disney we are exhausted. Trying to avoid that this time. Sleep in, room service for breakfast, pool, maybe miniature golf or a nice offsite restaurant in the evening.

Thanks for the suggestions so far!!

We stayed at the Marriott Harbour Lake for 1 night before we could check into our TH. It was very nice! Private villas, nice relaxing pool area (I think there was more than 1 pool on the property), children's playground.

What about the Wyndham grand resort or why not drive over to coco beach for 2 days and relax on the beach....

Gaylord is nice. My kids love staying there.

While this option is a Disney Resort, what about a cabin at Fort Wilderness? They have a nice relaxing pool. You can enjoy extra room in the cabin and make your own breakfast.

We love staying at Marriott's Harbour Lake. The pirate pool and slides were like having your own waterpark to yourself. The kids want to stay here the entire time next vacation instead of on Disney property. The Marriott Vacation Club across the street from this one is nice as well.
