Recommend a hotel near the airport?

So we are starting to look at staying at a hotel near the airport for half of our trip...We plan on staying for 4-5 nights and i really hope not to spend more than $200...there are 4 of us but my son is under 2 so i'm guessing he will not count..We just need a good hotel with a indoor pool...would prefer to have 2 beds but if we have one we can work with it..We will need a place that offers shuttle to the airport as well since we plan on staying there at the end of our trip..

I've never used priceline so I have no clue how that all works..Do they only take CC or they do accept debit as well? the cards we have can be used as either or but primarily come from our checking accounts..

We are also looking to rent a car for that time as well, we are bringing our own carseat so I know we won't have to pay that extra fee..Again with the car rental we are trying to stay as cheap as we can..

This is an EXTREMELY tight budget since we had planned on staying with my sister for our whole stay, but now we only plan to stay half of it..so when we booked our airfare in June none of this was even a factor..we want to have a good time but we need to stay as economical as possible..

If anyone has any helpful tips or advice please feel free to send it my way..I'd be ever so grateful..

Hotwire is probably a better choice for you than Priceline. Hotels with indoor pools may be hard to find. Priceline will only guarantee you a hotel of the star level you are bidding, or higher. There is no way to even tell that the hotel will have a pool - although most do in Orlando. The amenity listed on Hotwire will indicate if the hotel has a pool. If you go to betterbidding.com, you may be able to identify that hotel from its list or make a post on that site to help you identify the hotel. If you can identify the hotel, then you can go to the hotel's web site to see if it has an indoor pool.

With your price parameters you would probably have to look at hotels between 2* and 3* levels. If staying 5 nights, your maximum would be around $ 32 a night or for 4 days about $ 40 a night. There are taxes and svc. charges added to the per night rate on Hotwire and Priceline, but you know what the total cost is before you make the purchase (Hotwire) or make the bid (Priceline). There can also be resort or parking fees added by the hotel which you will not know until after you make the purchase. These are a possibility, but less likely in the 2* to 3* level.

You may also want to consider the SeaWorld/I-Drive South area, as there are usually good rates on Hotwire in this area.

For rental car - takes a lot of time and continuous checking right up to the week or so before your trip. I would search rates now, maybe trying to use discount codes with each company or using discount codes listed on mousesavers.com. Make a reservation (which you can cancel) at the best rate you can find. Then keeping checking every week, as rates can change and drop right up until your trip. Priceline and Hotwire rates are normally best - but not always - a week or two before your trip. Once you purchase on Hotwire or Priceline, it is non-refundable and you will not be able to change after that if rates later drop.

NOt sure about paying with debit card on Priceline or Hotwire - I would think as long as it is a VISA or Mastercard debit card it should work, as the payment is immediate and non-refundable.

We have stayed at the La Quinta off Semoran next to the airport on many of our "early flight out" trips, and its done the trick just fine. We usually get a rate between $45 and $55. They have a pool, although not indoor, and they serve breakfast as well. Dont think you'll find an indoor pool anywhere by the airport. Of course, I cant think of any hotel in Orlando with one. Anyway, its a good value, would likely fit your budget, and its location is right next to the 528, for easy access to the parks area...

Hotwire is great for 1 nt stays. I just found a 3* for only $39+ tax. Also I've gotten the Hyatt, right inside MCO so no shuttle needed, for around $55. It's a 4* with TA rating of 4.5/5.

The good thing about HW vs. PL is that PL only guarantees bedding for 2. Any more than that and you have to plead to the hotel. Since we're a family of 4 we really must have 2 beds.

I love betterbidding.com and have used their help many times.

You should be able to find something very nice for around $50.

Just wanted to add:

I've been patiently waiting for Hyatt MCO to show up on HW for the end of Oct. It's been only showing up until Oct. 4 for months and just lately extended until Oct 18.
Once you stay there, you see how awesomely convenient it is and you won't want to deal with the shuttle, esp with a 2 yo post flight.
Don't rush to book something non refundable right now and your patience may pay off.

I got the MCO Hyatt on Priceliene a couple of years back for $35 a night. You can't beat Priceline if price is important to you.

Although Priceline does not guarantee bedding for more than two, you will have absolutley no problem for this in Orlando.

Also, outdoor temps in Orlando should be fine for swimming up until the end of November, for sure. I would only worry about December, Jan, and Feb and the beginning of March. not much call for indoor pools in Florida.

There are only 2 hotels in the MCO area with a 4* rating: the Hyatt or the Renaissance by Marriott.
They both have the same list of amenities so there's no way to tell them apart from looking at that.
When you click on "continue" the next page has a map and next to that often has a Tripadvisor.com rating. Hyatt is 4.5/5 and Renaissance is 4.0/5.
If they ever stop putting the TA rating I'd be clueless.

The thing I like about HW vs. PL is that I can see if the Hyatt is being offered or not. We usually only get picky when we have a late flight in or pre-cruise when we really dont' feel like trekking around late at night.

I'm sorry I didn't read your entire post when I 1st responded. I thought you were just looking for 1 night. If you plan to have a cheap hotel near the airport for several days, I wouldn't think it's so important for it to be the Hyatt. You'll save more $ by using PL.

Stayed at Orlando Airport Marriott a couple years ago. Has an indoor/outdoor pool. Paid about $90 a night. If you are talking $200 total for 4-5 nights, that I don't think you will get at Marriott.

Priceline we use alot for cars but not hotels since they won't guarantee two beds.

I'm sorry I didn't read your entire post when I 1st responded. I thought you were just looking for 1 night. If you plan to have a cheap hotel near the airport for several days, I wouldn't think it's so important for it to be the Hyatt. You'll save more $ by using PL.

May I ask if you searched for just 2 adults or 2 adults & 2 kids? I only ask cuz it seems strange. When I search for my parents, just 2 adults, the Renaissance is offered. When I search for my family of 4, the Hyatt comes up. I often wonder how they decide which hotel will list when it could be either. Just over-analyzing everything as usual.

i was searching for 2 adults when i found what we think is the renaissance.

Honest, I've been searching almost daily since last spring for the Hyatt for our pre cruise stay. Even when I searched random dates, I couldn't get the Hyatt to show for any date later than Oct. 4. That is until this past weekend. They finally pushed their date to Oct. 18. It's available every day up until then except for a few Friday nights.
I've gotten it so many times in the past but it's rare that they are keeping their calendar so short like these days.

In the meantime we have senior rates booked (my parents are coming too) so we could always cancel those if we can get it on HW.

The waiting is torture but we have a late arriving flight and leaving for the port in the am so the less time we spend shuttling around, the better.

When I search that date, I don't see any 4* in MCO area at all. If you see it again click on it. When you get to the next page, scroll down and look for the tripadvisor rating. If it says 4.5/5 it's the Hyatt. If it's 4.0/5 it's the Renaissance. AFAIK those are the only 2 that are 4* in the MCO area.

Thanks RUADisneyFan2! I'll keep watching. One more question.. So, if you put in my requirements, you do get a 4* $59 a night hotel. It says: Orlando Intl MCO Airport. Is this the Renaissance? Is it just as close? Can we walk there?
