Recommend a family resort in the Poconos

We need a vacation around here. I was thinking of going to the Poconos. I like Great Wolf Lodge, but their prices are too high. (I would consider it if food was included) We don't qualify for the specials, since they are from Sun. to Thurs. and we want to go NJ Teachers Convention.

Can anyone recommend something for a family with teenagers?

The Split Rock Lodge at Lake Harmony is very nice.

We stayed at Brookdale on our honeymoon. It was very nice--this was in 86, but I'm sure that Caesar's has kept it up to their high standards. There are rooms available without heart-shaped tubs and champagne glass whirlpools.

We stayed at Brookdale 2 summers ago. Yes meals are included but it's still pricey. We really enjoyed it but for the money I'd rather go somewhere else.

that's funny. my boyfriend always tells me that when we get married, he wants to honeymoon at one of those resorts with a champagne glass hot tub. i always tell him that he's such a dork. i don't understand the fascination with those things!?

to the op: my family lives across the delaware water gap in nj, but the only places we've ever stayed at in the poconos are time share places (fernwood is one of them). it was nice though. i think the problem with the poconos is that there are a lot of couples only places.

Yes it is pricey.. But food, games, etc.. are all included. We did a magic Show, they had live Bands, The kids 2,4,6,8 all danced and loved it. Ice Cream Sundae Bars (my favorite) Tons of things for the kids to do. Family Scavenger Hunts, Giant Scrabble, Crafts at the mini Golf, So much fun!
And once you go 3 times, you become a "forever lover" and can get Very Large Discounts up to 50% off the rooms on off season times..

Brookdale sounds good but I can't find a room. I might try through AAA. I'll check Pocmount too. I've heard about that before.

I think Split Rock might be too much money.
