my family is turning over a new leaf (of course, it's a new year). We are eating foods that are closer to whole, wanting to move away from all that processing. anyway, does anyone have any recipes to share? lower in fat and carbs?

for the most part I just tend to do baked broiled or sauted meats.... seasoned with herbs

frozen organic veggies, either steamed or roasted with salt pepper and olive oil
and serve those with one of the following

organic ww pasta w/ either organic tomato sauce, olive oil and parmesan, or home made mac and cheese etc

organic brown rice
organic quinoa
baked potatoes
alexia potatoe wedges

Or I make stirfry with the veggies and meat
sauce can be
whole foods organic hoisin sauce, rice vinegar and organic veggie broth
organic coconut milk and curry paste
serve with either the organic brown rice or organic ww pasta

DD and I just had Asian chicken wraps for lunch. It was really easy and very tasty and healthy. You just dice up some carrots really fine, green onions, diced, red pepper diced, a little garlic, a little ginger, some shredded cabbage, a little salt and pepper and some diced chicken all stir fried. Put a little hoisin sauce on a tortilla, add some of the filling and wrap it all up and eat! You could add any other spices or veggies you would like.

What types of foods are you trying to replace?

ie if you like the bagged meals you can buy any of the Cascadian Farms vegitarian meals in a bag and add meat if you want. They are whole grain, no additives etc.

want to replace something like hamburger helper cheeseburger mac?
1 1lb naturally raised min processed beef and 1 package Annie's organic shells and cheddar.

dinner tonight is
2lbs round steak
1 10 oz bag woodstock frozen organic mushrooms
1 Tbs all natual curry paste
2 cloves garlic

cooking that in the crockpot, once the meat is tender I'll throw in 2 bags of
frozen organic veggies and serve over rice

add a little soysauce, rice vinegar and seseme oil to the stirfry and you have my recipe for moo shu. It can be made with ground chicken or pork too. My fave is with ground pork.

this is how we live. Mom and I are gluten free, and I am also corn free. Anything processed in this house is to a minimum, and due to the allergy everything is pretty much low carb.

We eat a LOT of rice, and often use it in place of pasta (think meat sauce over rice) we do a lot of stir frys. We use a LOT of italian dressing (publix brand zesty italian, no corn no gluten.) We do purchase all natual deli meats by Boars Head.

Tonight is pork chop casserole (in the crock pot) which is pork chops, onions and creamy portabella mushroom soup (from whole foods.) This will be served with fresh green beans and red potatos and home made applesauce (when in a pinch we use Motts Organics.)

365 brand? I love mushroom soup but have a hard time finding one I like that is healthy. I don't really care for the Amy's brand.
