I am gonna be a disney bride in June of 2015. I have just started to look into planning options and am wanting a basic ceremony and a small reception with just cake and maybe a place for our first dance. All the places I have come across want $$$ for a big dinner. Can anyone help. Prices and links would be very much appreciated too .:dance3:

What you are looking for is the Escape Collection. One warning is that you can only have up to 18 guests. Here's some information:

Prices are for this year but it will give you some idea (I don't think it changes much from year to year). I'm pretty sure from past brides that have done this, you have a "ceremonial" first dance with your cake reception.

Hope this helps. There is a memories collection too which is just basically the ceremony, photos and floral with no cake.

We're planning to marry at the swan and dolphin. They offer the cake and champaign option. Do you think they will let us have our first dance there? Do I need to request music then? I've heard others talk about a dessert party reception. What is that?

You may want to talk to Just Marry (the group who generally coordinates the Swan & Dolphin events), but I think you can do it there and have a musician hired. If I remember correctly, Carrie's book PassPorter’s Disney Weddings & Honeymoons also has some information about Swan and Dolphin weddings, so it may be good for you to check out. Or the Swan & Dolphin thread may have the information.

Yes, you can do a cake & Champagne reception with a ceremony at the Swan & Dolphin, and you can get a sound system to play the song or get a musician. If you're interested in a dessert party inside Epcot or at one of the Magic Kingdom-area hotels, you can work with Disney Catered Events to plan one as long as you're staying at a Disney-owned hotel (which the Swan and Dolphin are not): 407-824-2474

A dessert party is usually an hour-long event with desserts or appetizers (or both) that is held within view of IllumiNations or Wishes. Only IllumiNations parties are held inside the park. In both cases, your group gets a private viewing area from which to watch the show. They are very popular because it's a wedding-day experience you just can't get anywhere else.

I have complete details on planning dessert parties here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/private-party/
