Does anyone have any good ideas for a reception following our Memories Collection wedding? We will be married on the beach near the Polynesian and only have immediate family attending. We still want to have wedding cake and a nice yet somewhat reasonably priced meal afterward(Victoria and Albert's is out lol.) Thank you in advance for your suggestions:).

Hi and congrats on your Memories Collection wedding! We are having ours on the Luau Beach too (in February) do you have a date?

You have tons of options, we chose to have a private catered event later in the day (our wedding/VR is at 3pm) we hired the patio at Fantasmic! but a lot of people have their reception dinner at the Grand Floridian because it's in walking distance of the beach.

My advice would be to set a budget for the dinner and then explore what is available at the Poly or the GF that suits your needs and budget.

Citricos and Narcoossees are both really nice and I know a few DISer's have had their receptions there.

Thank you so much and Congrats on your wedding too! We will be getting married Saturday, April 28th at 1:00pm in the afternoon. We have a small child and were interested in finding a child friendly place to eat but we are also on a very tight budget so are looking for creative ideas. My mother and fiance are footing the entire bill and I'm having a little guilt about that so want to try to keep costs down while still having a nice reception for the small group of family that will be present. Since only 4 guests are allowed to witness the ceremony, about 10 family members will be attending the reception following the ceremony so we want to make it memorable.

Is there anywhere a first dance might take place? Thank you! So excited

All Disney restaurants (bar V&A) are child friendly. None you would be able to have a first dance at though. The GF often has a band playing though so you could just dance in the lobby.

Anywhere you choose, with just a couple of exceptions would be child friendly. Sorry I can't answer your question about a first dance :confused3

The other option we were offered for our private catered event was as follows

1) Do a dinner at one of Epcot’s restaurants then desserts at Bonsai Terrace in Epcot, which is currently available:

Epcot ~ Bonsai Terrace

· Located in Japan

· Chartered Motor-coach for Guest’s backstage arrival additional cost

· Please see the attached photos:

· Minimum of 5, Maximum Capacity of 10 guests

· Venue Package Fee of $100.00 plus tax

http://www.disneymedialab.com/dvm/concepts/Bonsai_Terrace_Photos.pdf

· Food & Beverage Minimum of $230.00 plus tax and service charge

· There is an $85.00+ tax set up fee for just dessert parties

This would basically give you a private space just for your party. You would choose a menu that suited you and your budget. I would think (I don't know) that you could potentially have a first dance in your little space.

The total cost would of course depend on the menu you choose, but if you kept food down, it would be quite reasonable.

You mentioned that you wanted a cake. That would be part of your minimum as far as I know too.

I feel like I'm becoming a bit of an advocate for private catered events but I really didn't want just another ADR in a restaurant with everyone else for our big day. If you're happy to do that, then there are very few restaurants that I would say are less "child friendly". After all, this is Disney and everyone becomes a child!
