Reception Centerpieces

Okay, so I have given up trying to understand Disney Floral pricing. It hurts my head. I love calla lilies, but our centerpieces keep coming back priced at $45 - $55/piece (that is with three calla lilies, lily grass, and vase rental). I just can't justify spending that much on a centerpiece.

My fiancé and I are having a small, 26 person, brunch reception at Hollywood Hideaway. There is a lot of natural light, so we don't really "need" candles. We do want some sort of centerpiece with at least some sort of flower/plant in it. We were told that we have to use Disney Floral due to the fact that our reception is in a park.

I've given up on the whole calla lily idea, so does anyone have any examples of centerpieces they got from Disney floral that are closer to $25 - $30/piece?

Any suggestions or insight would be greatly appreciated!!

I don't know if this is much help, but I don't know if you'll be able to get much lower than that price. :confused3 Our centerpieces are 6 roses in a small vase, and they are $45 a piece. We needed small ones because we have small cocktail size tables at ADH. So I think that when you put floral into it, it makes the price soar. We are thinking about cutting those centerpieces and putting some non-floral centerpiece in. Unless somebody else on here can recommend a floral centerpiece that's cheaper. Or maybe doing something like 4 roses instead of 6? I don't know what the prices are for other flowers but maybe the calla lilies are more expensive, and maybe you could try a different flower?

Honestly I think that sounds super cheap for a centerpiece. Mine are $150 each and they aren't going to be crazy big or have expensive flowers. I would just email your floral planner and ask what can be done for less.

Yeah, it's cheaper than $150 but $45 for 3 lilies IS expensive. I don't know if this is the case for OP, but with us, we need the small centerpieces for 18 tables :scared1:, so when it adds up, it ADDS UP, if ya know what I mean. But like I said, I don't know if that's the case for OP, she may only need 5 tables or something.

I just had small square vases with one gerber daisy "floating" on some marbles. They were beautiful! We also used the ceremony floral at the reception which saved some $

Maybe something like this?

hoping I can help :goodvibes

I own a flower shop and we are big in wedding florals...so maybe from the standpoint of knowing overall flower prices it may help me to maybe recommend something as an alternative that also stays within the style of the callas....:surfweb:

Calla Lilies are surprisingly expensive... :scared1:

Yes, $45 is about the lowest you will probably get with a centerpiece of pretty much any kind. Flowers + Labor + vase/container = $45+ -- That is about the starting price for any centerpiece for the weddings we do here in VA. (Yes, Disney is in Florida, but our flower prices are pretty much the same...). However, maybe if you chose mini callas or the large callas non-submerged would help cut down on the cost of the large glass...? The Callas submerged in the tall 24" glass can be $45+, with the glass being a big chunk of the cost.

If you want to do something less expensive, maybe try to do half of the tables one thing and half another. Sometimes what I tell brides is 'do half your tall extravagant arrangement that you LOVE and half something more budget-friendly to balance the cost'.

With that said, maybe do a small 5" tall cube or little, mini cylinder with maybe some stones and like 3 'mini' callas instead of the large callas. Large Callas are quite pricey, about $10-12/stem (again, depending on how much Disney charges)--- ONE STEM...that's why they add up quick. Maybe a collection of mini callas by themselves in a clear glass with some stones...? (and callas are classic, don't require any additional greens or filler).

Rose petals and a few votives can be a more affordable option for maybe HALF the tables and do half the other tables with your callas you like at $45 per. Maybe that way you can have your cake and eat it too?? :thumbsup2

again, just hoping this helps :hippie:

That does sound beautiful! Do you mind sharing how much you paid? & if you have pictures that would be great as well! :goodvibes

I only have a pretty terrible photo on this computer (you can see it at the bottom of the picture of my sister writing in my guestbook)....hopefully it helps - they were around $25 a piece I think. The flowers on the head table were from the ceremony and they charged a small fee to move them, can't remember what the cost was...

So these were the arrangements that we were originally considering:

3 cylinder vases ($5/each rental)
1 Submerged Calla lily twisted with lily grass ($10/each)
Total: $45/each (one calla lily in each cylinder)

So, then we asked about something like this (but exchanging the 4 tulips for 3 calla liles):

centerpiece.jpg

Vase Rental: $10/each
3 Calla lilies with twisted lily grass ($35/each)
This is where I was a bit confused because I would think that the pricing for the flowers would be the same as above, since we are using the same amount of materials. However, the vase rental is $5 cheaper. So, I expected the price to come back at $40/each not $45/each. But I'm not a florist, so who knows.

Then I found a centerpiece on disneyflorist.com. I figured it might be cheaper or close to the same price as the two above, since it is only two calla lilies and three roses (thinking roses are cheaper than calla lilies). Here is the centerpiece:

DisneyCenterpiece.jpg

Vase Rental: $5/each
2 calla lilies, 3 roses, and lily grass: $55/each
Total: $60/each

I think I'm waaay too much of an engineer for any of this to make logical sense to me. I would think that less materials or cheaper materials would make cheaper centerpieces. However, I am not a florist, so maybe there is more work to these centerpieces than I realize.

We only need 4 centerpieces, but I just can't justify spending around $200 for a 3 - 4 hour reception and that's it. I'd rather spend $200 and get another dessert at our dessert party or add the option to have mimosas with our brunch.

Thank you to everyone for the ideas!!! Definitely have me thinking about other options!!!

Calla lillies are my favorite too and they are really expensive. Maybe opt for gerber daisies?
