We often get q's about surge pricing so here is my recent experience. A couple weeks ago I hit MCO looking for a rideshare around 4:30pm. Rates seemed crazy. I waited a bit going back and forth between uber and lyft looking for a comfort+ type ride but I was worried if I waited too long it would be deeper into rush hour it would get worse, no idea if that was the right or wrong call. Price dropped about $5 as I waited and I ended up using Lyft for $50.

Return trip was at 1pm from Dolphin, $32, comfort+

So I saw about $20 in surge pricing on my MCO-Dolphin leg during a non-holiday June trip.

Just to point out, while a lot of the difference may have been due to surge pricing, not all of it was. Rides (Mears Connect, Mears Taxi, Uber, Lyft, etc.) originating from an airport, like MCO, include Airport Concession Fees in their rate. This fee is only paid for trips leaving the airport, not on trips to the airport. I don't know if MCO's concessions are a flat fee or a percentage, but it probably accounted for a couple of dollars of the difference.

Yeah, my Feb trip to Universal included a $7 MCO surcharge leaving MCO, $42 before tip at 2:52 PM on a Friday, $26 back to the airport on a Monday at 11 AM.

My March trip was $43.10 (including a $7 MCO surcharge, but not the tip) on a Friday afternoon around 4:15 from MCO to Boardwalk. My return trip to MCO was $35.96 around 4:45 in the afternoon on a Friday. Biggest difference is that MCO surcharge between the 2 rides.
