I know, I know, requests are never guaranteed.....but I have such a rotten track record getting what I ask for that I am wondering if I should remain hopeful that yes, I will get grandstand or congress park as I requested at 11 months, or resign myself to being put in the paddock or carousel sections. And I know, it's still Disney World and a sight better than April in Ohio right now! Just wondering how people have been doing recently.

We returned a week ago. All our requests were met
1. Vero Beach Ocean View Inn room - Requested Ocean FACING room
1. Vero Beach - Requested High floor
2. Animal Kingdom Lodge Value Studio - Requested close to Transportation.

We were very happy with all the requests being made and we also used online check-in and were happy with that process too.

Good luck pixiedust:

The squeaky wheel gets the grease. I find that when you are checking in and you notice that none of your requests have been met. Be very friendly and personal and say something like I had requested ______ building and the second floor. I was wondering if there is any way to see if anything is available.

You would be surprised what they will do for you. The most important thing is to ask. Some people don't ask an just assume that the requests didn't come through. Good luck and have fun.:thumbsup2

When we were there in October we got our requested Springs building but not our ground floor request. The building request was our first priority.

We do request on occasion, and when we check in, we ask if the request has not been met. Unfortunately, we haven't had much luck! :confused3

That's okay, though. It doesn't rain on my parade!!! Life is good when I'm at Disney!!! :goodvibes

All met on last stay at AKv's. Oh, by the way, the resort staff could not have been nicer. Everytime they were passed in the hall, they smiled and spoke! Room clean, no problems there either. This was in March.

Don't use on-line check-in. A Manager told me at SSR last month that it voids your original requests.

:scared1: That makes sense, because there's nowhere to put a request in (other than two options it gives you - first floor and something else - can't remember).

Thank goodness I e-mailed MS, because I wanted to make sure they linked my two reservations and noted my request. I don't want to have to check out and check back in, and I definitely don't want to have to change rooms. I asked again for my request to be noted, and acknowledged I knew it was only a request. Now, the note below makes perfect sense. I thought the wording of it was odd when I received it.

Hello Bridgett,

Thank you for contacting Member Services.

We have noted your request on your reservation. Please keep in mind
that while the Front Desk will make every effort to accommodate your
requests, they cannot be guaranteed. Requests will not show on the
online check-in website.

Since the reservations are linked together you should only need to check
in the one time which you have already done online.

Sincerely,

Todd

We didn't check in online, and I'm willing to wait for something better if need be. However, these are my experiences:
1) Poly in July 06--requested Samoa OR Fiji. Got Raratonga. This was our 20th anniversary trip. "Sorry maam, the resort is completely full--but if you wait a day, we can move you then...."
2) YC last March--standard view, but you wouldn't believe the location we got; I didn't know it was possible to have such a weird location even a marginally smaller room than usual due to its position in the hallway. Same thing--"sorry, resort is completely full".
And I swear to you I don't act crabby about it--I usually get really quiet and DH knows I'm upset, but no amount of asking for any other option could get us moved those two times. When we had the VWL dumpster view it was only 2 nights so we just sucked it up.
We are checking in fairly early, but it's Monday, and my little "glass half empty" demon says all the good rooms are probably full of sunday-friday people. Even DH laughed this morning when he looked at a map and said "is Paddock the furthest from everything and the one without a pool? That's probably where we'll end up!" He thinks its funny. My glass-half full angel says I booked in May, although I adjusted it in early July, and I should get at least one of my choices.
I'll get on tomorrow at SSR and let you all know how it worked out.

We arrived at SSR on Saturday, 3/21 at 3:00. We had requested Grandstand, close to the pool. We were assigned to Grandstand, but very far from the pool. I politely stated that we had really hoped to be close to one of the pools, and was there any way that a room might be available closer? She said she would see what she could do, and was able to switch us to the building right next to the pool. I think that if your requests are not met it is worth asking. Have a great time!

I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Here is a little pixie dust. pixiedust:

Please post and let us know how it went and have a great trip!

We've been pretty lucky getting our requests met since joining DVC. We never got what we requested at the regular resorts. We have always asked nicely at check in if we're assigned somewhere else and it has always worked out positively til this past trip at AKV. Our only request was for our two booked rooms to be close together. They ended up one at one end of the hallway and one at the other. No biggie since the hotel was pretty crowded. The CM did tell me though that they have a strict policy there not to change the assigned rooms once they are in the computer no matter what the reason.

Our most recent stay was at OKW from 3/11 - 3/19. I didn't make the request until a couple of months before, but I had requested building 45, only because it looks like it has wonderful water views - it's right on the canal, and I had always wanted to stay there.
When we arrived, we were assigned to building 35, on Old Turtle Pond Rd. (where we always seem to wind up). I nicely asked the cast member about my request, and she told me that there were no requests on my reservation! I understand that no request is guaranteed anyway, but I was mad that the request was not there (and I did not do online check-in). She did check to see if anything was available but there wasn't. She said that I could check back every day to see if something opened up (which I did not do - no way was I moving once we were settled).
From now on I intend to request a new confirmation when I make a request.
