Recent stay at Hawthorn Suites--very nice

We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite at the Hawthorn Suites on Canada Dr recently and were very happy. I was very nervous booking it, cause on our only other trip to the World ('06), we were fortunate enough to afford a 2 BR Beach Club Villa. This was a last minute "business/vacation" and we're on a very tight budget. Anyway, the suite was clean, beds very comfy, decent hot breakfast every morning, friendly staff, no musty odors or pests, Wed. night free hot dinner buffet (pastas, sauces, meatballs, garlic bread and salad--decent). Only one complaint--the shuttle took an average 45 min. because of all the stops it makes on the way. We only had the one car and hubby needed it to get to meetings 3 of the 6 days we were there. Rent a car or take a cab, but don't waste your time sitting on the bus every morning--unless you get the EARLY one which is around 7 I think.

Thats great. I am thinking about staying there on our next trip. We have stayed at the ones in LBV and Palm Parkway. The one in LBV was fab, but the PP one didn't have the Managers special nights with free snacks and beer that the LBV did, although the hotel itself was okay. We want to be nearer to Universal next time so was looking at this Hawthorn.

I am glad it's still up to standards. I stayed there last year and it was clean. When the other hotel I booked did not have ac in the whole hotel and aweful smell. Hawthorne Suites give a good deal at the last minute as walk-in room for the week.
