DH and I are going to DLR for 3 nights in early April. We usually stay at either the Desert Inn or BWPPI because it just across from the pedestrian entrance. :thumbsup2 But the rates at both are about $110-$139 a night, and the Sheraton Anaheim is $139 a night with free buffett breakfast. Plus since it's a Sheraton they have those really nice beds. :goodvibes We don't mind taking a shuttle, we are WDW vets so we're good with buses. If we are going to pay in the low $100's no matter what, I'd rather have a nice place to crash and have it be a little further away.

Anyway, I have a ressie at the Sheraton Anaheim but we can cancel up to 24 hours prior. I just wanted to ask my Dis friends...if anyone here has stayed here in the past few months, what do you think of the place? I've seen reviews on Trip Advisor saying everything from "wonderful" to "run down and worn". It doesn't need to be in tip-top shape, but I want to avoid shaby too. Thanks in advance!!!! :yay:

Pete Werner (owner of the DIS) stayed there w/his mom & other family members last June. At first he was a little disappointed because there were no Disney or other special decorations. However, the comfort of the rooms, the hotel shuttle service, and the exceptional hospitality made him a fan of the place. (And he was just another guest as far as the hotel knew) We had dinner there one night, and I thought my food was delicious.

I also like the business center (used it), and thought the grounds were beautiful. It's one of the deluxe hotels I like to recommend.

We stayed at in December for 3 nights.

PROS: GREAT breakfast buffet, comfy beds, clean rooms, sheraton points, nice staff, easy shuttle, great room set up (we had our 2 year old daughter in a pack and play, there was a wall formed by the closet and bathroom, that allowed her to sleep and us stay up with little interuption, no door but it worked great!), you can go to the parking lot and see the fireworks,

CONS: Shuttle should run every 15 mins not every 30, we had our stroller and they put us in a room that we had to walk a 1/2 flight of stairs with the stroller, not a huge deal breaker but kind of a pain

Overall, I thought the value for this place was fantastic, especially since we had free breakfast buffet and parking. My husband didn't care for the shuttle, I didn't mind it much. We did end up taking a taxi twice. Once when we were running late for a reservation at Ariel's Grotto and a second time when there was a huge downpour and we had just missed the shuttle.

I would recommend the Sheraton Anaheim. Don't go in expecting high end Sheraton, just middle of the road Sheraton..does that make sense?

The Sheraton is perfectly fine, we have stayed there twice for free on points. The beds are comfy, the hotel is clean, the staff are nice enough, the pool is perfectly adequate.

The shuttle is a hassle, though. It is hot, and goes on the freeway and through a rather unappealing neighborhood. There are no restaurants close by, other than the hotel restaurant, where we didn't eat. There is a little gift shop where you can get icecream and hotdogs.

I would only stay there again if I were desperate to go to Disney and I couldn't afford DLH or GCH.

Is this their own shuttle or ART.

Jack

Their own shuttle. Their route is ball to harbour then into the shuttle drop off. Only once did they take us onto the freeway and off at harbour. I wonder what the PP meant by bad neighborhood, because all we encountered were the neighboring hotels on harbour.

Thank you, everone. So far it sounds like a cut above both Desert Inn and BWPPI, which is exactly what I was looking for. Sounds like the shuttle will be fine, we'll only be at the parks for two full days, so I think we can put up with it for that amount of time. Like I said, we're WDW vets so waiting for busses is something we're used to.

If anyone else wants to chime in, feel free! The more reviews the merrier! :)
