I am just curious what special postcard/e-mail rates cover.

Every postcard I have received says that the rate shown is good at value or deluxe resorts. Underneath that is smaller print says that there are other hotels at low prices too. That means that there are other offers for all the resorts unless they are booked. Sometimes I have read that CS is not available or the tower rooms at the CR. Usually the postcard covers most of the resorts, you just have to read the fine print.

That's what I always thought too. But I was reading the card I received. Ther really isn't much print ot it. The card only mentions Deluxe.
When I called and made the reservations last week, I was asked which Deluxe. I first inquired on the Cont. The only thing available for this discount was a Jr Suite/Garden View.
That was a lot more than the two of us need or want. I didn't even check the price, as I am sure it was more than $109 a night. ;) The higher priced rooms were always quoted to me first. (Although they all were good prices below the normal rate.)
I asked about WL and was offered (for five nights, total cost) $608 (2 Queen) standard or $719 for wood view.
I didn't ask about mods, since I wanted to try a deluxe. It would have been interesting to know if I could have rec'd a good mod price too. Or if this was strictly Deluxe.
AKL, standard room, was available for the same price as the standard WL.

We received a Value Resort discount by email and then in the mail we got a postcard for a Deluxe Resort discount.

We couldn't use either because we're already booked with FTP this Oct. But I hope they do this again!!

My post card was for the moderates for $79 a night, I booked 5 nights at the POR, total cost with tax $440.00.00

We got an email for savings on moderate resorts of up to $54/night. Unfortunately, it doesn't cover the dates of our next trip.

Do you know how badly it hurts me when I hear about you lucky ones who got postcards and e-mails? I have begged, pleaded, whined, cried and tried to be sneaky to get one of those rates. We are going to be there at that exact timeframe for my 4 year olds first time, BUT NO, I don't get a good rate, lol. I'm not behooving (what a big word) you guys the discount, I just want my fair share of the pie, lol. There, feels so good to rant about it. BTW, I did use my AAA discount to get 20% off ASMovies. Not my first choice (my idea of roughing it is the Holiday Inn), but certainly better than staying offsite, or paying $133.00 for a moderate; how ridiculous.

So, I've signed up for everything Disney I can think of. I've called CRO multiple times....what is the secret to getting on Disney's list for discounts and postcards?
TTFN!
:earsboy: :earsgirl:

I have also been to WDW 3 times and have stayed at 4 different resorts and also have signed up for all the stuff... I have never got a postcard or an e-mail for discount... i did receive an e-mail, i think from disney about the new space ride or what ever it is... i got excited and thought it was a discount ...no luck...amy

I also received the email for the new ride. Actually, I seem to get everything from Disney EXCEPT the discounts????? Do you have to sign up for the new Disney Visa??? I suppose I could break down and do that??

TTFN!

I have Disney Visa and was not send a postcard or email this time. I did get an email back in May or so. We were coming up on the two year anniversary of our last WDW trip, so it might have something to do with that.

I think the card discounts are luck of the draw.
I don't have a Disney credit card. I am an AP holder.
I am booked for room only in January, and have been for months.
We were there last January. We didn't have any plans for WDW inbetween January trips.
This made me wonder if the trick was to stay away. :)
I rec'd another doscount card a few years ago that I didn't use. I rec'd that about 3 months after we had returned and did not have another trip planned.

the most recent postcard I received was for the Aniamal Kingdom for $124/night valid for April thru 7/3. Im sure it wasnt for a Savanah view.

I have received other postcards and emails and used them last year. I got POR for $79/night & ASMu for $49/night.

I stayed 7 days at the POR for that fab rate in December.

I have no idea how Disney decides who to send the postcards/emails to.. I think its luck. I am not an AP holder. But I was in the Disney Club. I now hold their credit card. I have received no other offers since the last postcard mentioned.

I took advantage of the FTP for this coming visit..How could I pass that one up. Wilderness Lodge, here I come!

Good Luck to Everyone..I hope you get one.

I received my confirmation in the mail yesterday. On the confirmation it reads, "Welcome Disney Club Member!"
Nothing was said between us on the phone about Disney Club.
AND I was very glad I read the confirmation. They had me arriving a day earlier than I called for!
I called this morning and it was changed. (I hope ;) ) I am to receive a corrected confirmation.

CRO told me yesterday that all the current postcard/email offers that are now available run out in October. So...I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'll be "one of the lucky ones!"

TTFN!

Received an email last week for $109/night at AKL... my husband DELETED the email! I thought I would faint! He emailed Disney and they just re-sent the email.. has a code and a personal PIN number... we're going in Sept!
This is a very last-minute trip, but with the hotel rates, and our flight ($130 per person RT!) we couldn't turn it down.

I never rec'd a post card before until now. At least I think I did. The rate is for selected deluxe resorts for $109/nt. There is no pers code or maybe the yellow number above my name is one. There is an AXG code it states to ask for when scheduling. Is this a post card? The only problem is, I need to book by 10/01 and I just broke my leg (caste and everything)! Do you think Disney would extend my post card?

dsnyfun:

Yes what you rec'd is the post card, when you book they will ask for the code that it hi-lighted in yellow.
I do not know about them extending the dates for you. Generally they send the post cards out a few times a year each for a specific time frame

I have a postcard in hand for the $109 Selected Deluxe for 8/24-10/1. The strange thing is that the card is in my maiden name. Maybe the trick is to stay away. I haven't stayed under my maiden name in over 7 years although our last stay was this Feb at OKW but with a timeshare exchange week purchased from the DIS rent/trade board. But that reservation was under my married name. I've gotten a handful of postcards and emails over the years but have never had the opportunity to use any of them.
