Recent National experience PBI

We recently returned from a summer trip to Florida - and rented a car from National - Emerald Aisle. We flew into West Palm Beach on July 20th. There are no rental car companies in the airport - but National is on airport property. After picking up our luggage, we went out of the airport to grab a shuttle bus. A National/Alamo bus was at the stop - but very full. The driver said another bus would be there in a couple of minutes. And he was right! We waited maybe 2 minutes and got on the shuttle with just one other person. It was nice to be on an uncrowded vehicle. The shuttle dropped us off at the Emerald Aisle. There were only 2 cars (not that great - just intermediate ones). We spotted several vans on the Emerald Executive Aisle. I went up to the girls at the booth and introduced myself. They were waiting for me! I had made multiple ressies, and kept canceling the old one when the rate dropped. However, the sheet they had showed I had 5 ressies! It felt a bit funny to have a reputation before I arrived. However, the girls assured me there was no problem. They just wondered if I really wanted 5 cars. They were so nice to us and told us to pick whatever car we wanted. DH was like a kid in a candy store. I always do all the planning for our trip and DH gets to pick out the car (while DS and I wait patiently..) He picked out a nice van and we pulled up to the booth to finalize the rental. One of the girls noticed we had a burnt out taillight, so they asked us to pick another vehicle - from the Emerald Executive VIP lot! We got a great Toyota Sienna Van (love that van - lots of wonderful storage, and love those back fold down into the floor seats). It took them a bit to get our rate accepted. We got the van for 11 days rental for $250 - all taxes included! It was great. A wonderful start to our magical trip. Those girls at the PBI national were the best National Rental car employees I have ever met!

We dropped the car off at Orlando airport at the end of our trip - and it was breeze. However, it was quite busy around 11:30 in the morning on a Sunday. I've never parked a rental car so far from the National booth. We quickly unloaded and were on our way.

I really like National Emerald Club. We have had great success in getting an upgraded vehicle at Florida Airports - other than Orlando.
