recent med return cruisers

Think I'll chime in....:flower3: I am bringing capris. I have a couple that are really light weight. Wearing short sleeve tops with them. I'm packing a super light weight nylon zip jacket to throw in our daily back pack along with some ponchos in a box I bought at the AAA store. I'll bring 1 pr of kakis that's it.

The ship gets cold!!! Also if there is no humidity, nights will be cool everywhere. Also gonna bring a hoodie to wear in the movies and out on deck.

OK, I'm afraid I have to ask what your definition is of HOT?! I have been on weather.com & accuweather.com & for Paris, Barcelona, Villefranche & La Spezia for the next 2 weeks the forecasts are for highs in the mid-upper 70's (even a 68 F in Paris one day & a 72 or 73 F in Barcelona)!! Lows are predicted down into the 50's & 60's! THAT is not HOT to me!! I am typically cold below 82ish and won't wear a bathing suit below 75 F. Rome & Naples have only slightly higher forecasts (upper 80's / 90) and Majorca is hovering in the lower 80's. I was only planning to take shorts and tanks & sleeveless tops for all days except the Vatican and only a couple pair of capris and NO long sleeves or jackets. I was planning on a scarf hemmed cardigan for the dining rooms as I know those are kept like ice boxes. But I wasn't planning anything really warm. These forecasts have me really worried!! I THOUGHT I was done shopping but I went out in a panic today & bought more tops with a bit of a sleeve & more capris.:sad2: I figured I could leave the tags on & return them if I don't wear them. But it's throwing my packing strategy WAY off not to mention the extra expense!!!

It was brutally hot. Well I can't recall the exact temperature, I would say that it was in the low to mid 90's. Remember that you are constantly moving, usually at a quick pace. The med. sun is very intense.

I only took 2 lightweight cardigans and that was fine (I only used them on the ship). I think you will be fine with what you have. If you need a sweatshirt, you can buy one there.

Where did you find information about this. My sons would love this?

The web site is: www.livenup.fr Just change the language at the very top to English. When my son is asked about his vacation, he tells them the ferrari ride was his favorite thing the entire trip! :thumbsup2
I emailed them ahead of time, and called that morning to confirm what location and time was available.
Have a great cruise! :goodvibes

Hi Annie - I am not sure if this helps:goodvibes, but we are from England but vacation a lot in the US. All I can say about the weather here and in Europe is that we (and they!!) do not seem to be as well equipped to deal with the heat as you guys in the US. So whilst temperature wise it might not be as hot as DC, it is a different kind of heat and there is often little relief from going inside, as there is far less air conditioning etc around so it can be sticky and uncomfortable a lot of the time!!!:thumbsup2

Having said that, the evenings can still get very chilly and I imagine onboard ship it will be even more so - I can't say this with any authority as I am on the Magic the week after you, so this will be my first med cruise:thumbsup2

(one more thing to add - I have my brother visiting from Florida next week and I am worried he will feel the cold - but last time he came here we were having similar weather as today (not particularly hot but nice) and he wore shorts and tshirts the whole time - and he wasn't chilly at all).

Hope that helps a little:)

:thumbsup2 Excellently put.

A lot of the time American's that come to Europe have no idea that most places have ZERO A/C therefore it can and will feel a LOT hotter sometimes as you rightly pointed out there is little or no restbite from the heat.

Whilst we may not have temps that feel HOTTTTTTT to you, believe me, you'll feel it alright when you've been out in it constantly for a whole day with no relief.

To me our summers (when/if they get going) can be miserable with the heat and no A/C. I much prefer the American set up where everywhere is beautifully cold. That said the UK really doesn't get enough good weather to use it but certainly most of Europe does.
