Recent ME users...quick question.

I used ME in December and can't remember this .....does the bus driver scan you boarding pass before getting on? On another thread I mentioned that I am taking ME with my 2 boys but I am having dh get a car and meet us at the resort...this way we will have a car for a few days at the cabins (like to have one there so we can go to the grocery store, drive to some of the theme parks etc.) and we will have a car for the day we switch resorts....then we are dropping car off at the Dolphin. Anyway..someone mentined that if dh did not board the bus with us, then they would not be able to scan his pass, which means they will not pick up his luggage. I called ME and they said it is fine..that they would deliver all the luggage as long as 1 person in the group rode ME. One of my boy's is only 2 so he does not get ME tags which means we will have 6...if I can not use dh's then it will only be 4 and I KNOW that will not be enough!!!

Wow...that was suppose to be short!

Any advice?

Hi Kim! Are you already taking 2 bags each as checked luggage? When I go next month, I'm arriving the day before my dh and dd...gotta have some gown-up play time with Karen....and I'll be packing their stuff in my bags. Since they have to stop and connect at JFK I don't want to chance anything getting delayed or lost. So, I'll have 2 good sized bags checked and then delivered by DME.
I do remember the driver scanning our vouchers. But, if you pack your dh's stuff among those bags that you 'legally' have, then you should be fine. In fact, if I remember correctly, when we used DME for the first time last June, the luggage tags didn't even have the correct names on them...there were 3 with my dh's name, and 3 with my name, and none with dd's name...go figure. They all got delivered just fine. I would just put the tags you have on the bags you need. I don't think the name on the tag means diddly...it's all scanned as far as the reservation number goes,,,at least that's what I was told.

That is what I thought! When are you and Karen going? I will be there the 8th-14th...maybe we can meet up if you are there the same time!

I called ME 2x to ask if this was o.k. and they said as long as 1 person checked in and rade the bus all of our luggage would be delivered. You would think that 4 checked bags would be enough however, after a week at WDW we are going to the beach for a week so I have LOTS of stuff...not to mention all the extra things I will need for Mad Matt!

I can't wait!

Oh bother...Karen is getting in on the 13th, or the 12th I think. I get there on the 15th. Hopefully we'll see you at Canobie this summer? and there is the always popular meet in Boston in late April.

Kim--In order to be safe I'd just call DME and get extra tags for you and whoever else will be taking DME with you. DME will send you extra tags, some airlines allow you to check 3 bags and some passengers pay for extra bags. The airlines don't care if the name you use to check the bag matches the name on the yellow DME tag.

I've read that as long as one person checks in at the DME desk all the luggage is released. You could give all your DME tags at the desk to be scanned. I used DME twice, once the driver scanned my tag and the second time my tag was only scanned at the desk.

I don't think you'll have a problem either way but I'd sleep better knowing the tags on my bags matched with the passengers riding the DME bus.
