World of Disney discount, gone
Sneak peaks of new attractions, gone (Toy story mania, Passholders got it)
La Nouba discount, gone, Still available to florida residents.

if the reason for the loss is that noone really took advantage then why
not just leave it for the few of us who want to use it, with such few
then disney wouldnt be losing out on it,

Seems things that matter are going away whilst our maintenence fees
and gerneral prices to purchase points is rising.

I don;t remember ever getting a DVC discount at World of Disney, I thought it was always an AP discount. We used to get Disney Store discounts, but that was prior to the Children's Place takeover. Now that the Disney Stores are again under Disney control, that discount may return.

The incentives are offered when they're having trouble selling whatever it is without the incentive. DVC doesn't entitle us to any perks or incentives beyond our lodging for the next several decades. I'm thrilled with my dvc purchase, which was based solely on lodging....not silly perks/incentives that can disappear at any time. Those are "gravy", but not anything we can count on or expect.

Actually last weekend was an AP and DVC preview. I don't know why it wasn't really advertised but I was there. We used our ap's and I thight we could bring my inlaws in as guests and they said no. My hubby said we also have DVC and they said ok, no problem. I am glad I had my id. They were really strict with the id's. Everyone had to have picture id.

MNSSHP & MVMCP both have DVC and AP discounts. As Chuck said, I don't think DVC ever had a World of Disney discount.

I think a point to remember is that DVC does not create these discounts. They are negotiated with the other departments of WDW.

First quarter profits were up over 20% in these tough times....

Why give discounts, they are making too much money and apparently have no problem selling what is being offered.

World of Disney did have a 10% discount. 10% at Disney stores, 10% on park passes when staying at your home resort, Free parking at the parks, discounts on most restaurants,
You were also allowed to visit any resort just by showing your membership card. Now you get the 3rd degree especially if you are not staying on property. I have been a DVC member since 1997, we visit Disney World 2 to 3 times a year and we don't always stay at Disney. We stay with our CastMember Family at their home. We visit Disney World everyday that we are there and spend alot of money in the parks, photos, food etc. When trying to find a new place to dine, We have been denied access to a resort if we did not have dinner reservations even after showing our photo ID's and membership cards. When we signed our agreement, there were many perks that were offered and promised, and every year they have dwindled. We have considered selling our membership but since it is now paid in full, we use our points to take the Disney cruises. :boat:

The 10% on park passes for length of stay was replaced with the $100 off of AP's. A much better discount which members requested for a long time, it comes to about 20-25% off.

I've been a member since 1999 and don't remember alot of the discounts you mentioned. Free parking when not staying onsite? There were more restaurant discounts in the past but I would not say most restaurants.

Actually, as a previous poster stated, it was 10% on Length of Stay passes, that type of pass is no longer available, with or without a discount. Parking at any and all resorts or theme parks was never a DVC perk, you may have gotten a sympathetic CM that let you park , but it wasn't a policy. Parking at Theme Parks is an onsite perk, including DVC resorts. Resorts, especially the monorail resorts, have gotten tighter on their parking in general, they have limited spaces, and guests at those resorts should have a place to park, especially during popular holiday travel times. Some of this is a function of increasing security concerns, as well. When we purchased, it was made pretty clear that we were purchasing the use of accommodations at our home resorts within the POS guidelines. Any perks and discounts were never guaranteed. No one should have purchased DVC based upon the available perks.

The 10% Disney Store discount ended when Disney sold the chain to Children's Place. Now that the stores are back under the Disney Corp umbrella, and once they go through a rehab, perhaps that discount will be restored.

We are brand new to DVC, but AP holders get a 10% discount at World of Disney. I think you have to spend a minimum of $50. Also, if you book through AAA the AAA packages come with a discount card. (Not that anyone with DVC books through AAA, but we had that card a few trips back.) Right now the Disney Stores are offering a 15% discount to AP holders through the end of June.

We are thrilled that we'll get a DVC discount on our APs next time!
It seems like most of the DVC perks are similar to the AP perks, but we need the APs anyway!

I think there is also a Disney Visa discount at WoD. I know I've gotten a discount there, and I've never had an AP.

Cirque seems to come and go - its never been available during our travel times, then suddenly its there again giving me hope it will be there next time we do Cirque - then its gone again.

I visited a bunch of resorts last June simply by pulling up to the gate and saying I wanted to poke around. No third degree - and I didn't even have my member card with me, I was just playing day guest.

We have been DCV members since 1997 also, and almost none of what you said here is completely true. We have never been denied access at any Disney resort nor given the 3rd degree. I can't think of very many perks that had any significant monetary value when we purchased that we don't get now. Operative word here is SIGNIFICANT. On the other hand, the $100 discount on APs is VERY significant, and that was not in place when we started. I guess if you are that unahappy, maybe you should sell and float your boat elsewhere.

Despite some of the perks being trimmed down, I was very happy to take advantage of the newly increased DVC golf perk which now accepts tee times before 10AM for $20 more. This saved me $100 on just ONE ROUND of golf this month.
So despite the loss of one or two perks, DVC continues to improve for me.

DVC did get to preview Toy Story Mania......we were at AKV 5/11 thru 5/13 and there was notice in our check-in package that we could preview TSM 5/10 thru 5/12 from 9 a.m. til 7 p.m. each day. However, we didn't take advantage because we had already decided this was a "no parks" total relaxation trip and didn't even purchase tickets this time. We plan to get new AP's in the fall to use for our next three trips. My guess.......they only announced it to DVC members who were there via the checkin package.......makes sense. AP is different.........lots of local folk in Orlando have AP's.......not so many are DVC'ers.

DVC Members can get a 25% discount on Cirque Du Soleil shows from May 1 - June 28, 2008.

Just curious on where you got this information from? I will be there during those dates and I have wanted to see this show for awhile. I went to the member website and couldn't find it anywhere. I went under perks and DTD entertaiment and also under special offers. Thanks!

It's on the back cover of the Portable Perks (May-July 2008).

I'm thrilled with this one, also.
My DH has a 8amTee time at Osprey Ridge with three guests next month.
After subtracting the $50 membership fee, we save $110. I'm sure he'll use it for our December trip, too. He's even thinking of taking advantage of the golf club storage. An excuse to buy new clubs for home!:rolleyes1
