I'm not sure if this is the correct forum to post but here goes......

I am 3 weeks post op from an LAVH, and TOT bladder sling. I'm feeling pretty good but still have alot of restrictions , ie. driving, amount of weight I can lift and yada, yada, yada....

Has anyone gone to disney recently that has had a hysterectomy and how did you do?

We have two kids 7 and 2 - we will be going for one week. My plan is to take it easy - early morning park - lunch and swim at the resort then back to the parks late afternoon -

So what's your thought is this doable?

My Mom, who was 72 when she had hers, went to London UK with me for a week(and we walked, taxied and "tubed"(aka subway) about 3 months after she had hers. Mom was in pretty good shape, was into pilates before it was hip.

I think everyone recovers differently from operations, once you get the doctor's okay start a walking program to build up your endurance.

I've had multiple abdominal surgeries, and, if you work up your endurance, you will be fine. Just start as soon as you feel up to it by walking to your mailbox (depending on how far your mailbox is!), around the block, etc., working your way up. By 3 months after my last surgery, I was walking 2 miles. At the hospital, they have always encouraged walking around the hospital, and even by 4 weeks post-op, I was walking around the block. If you walk every day and listen to your body (rest when you need to), you can build up to it.

I have a 6 and 2 yo, and we have the same plan as yours. I think with little kids, even without your recent surgery, it is a good plan!

My mom had an abdominal type Hyst a few years ago and she went to see the MGM lights 2 weeks later - but she had to walk slow and was uncomfortable. She was upset she couldn't lift DS up and out of the stroller. I had one in 2004 total laproscopy with lots of repair work and I was at POP 2 weeks later with no issues. It wasn't a hard surgery for me and I didn't have any walking issues. It all depends on you and how you are healing. I would think 4 months would be plenty of time to recover.

MY Teaching assistant is recovering at home now from a hyst and she has already told me she is coming back to work next week with minimal lifting restrictions..

As long as you don't try to lift up Mickey and give him a hug I think you'll be oK!
Enjoy!

I had one in the beginning of May and by the end of July, we took all three kids to the beach for a week. The kids were 3, 1.5, and 1.5. It was a lot of work but I was completely comfortable by then. The first eight weeks were the hardest for me as I was just so tired.

This happened in 1989 and even though I was only 25 at the time- I would do it all over again!:cool1:

I had my appendix out on Sunday Dec 17th (emergency surgery), we had Disney ressies for Sat Dec 23rd through New Years- I was in the hospital getting IV antibiotics for a week- they released me Fri Dec 22nd- I had to go home and pack for me and DH and I made it!

Of course- I would fall asleep just trying to pack and I had to be in a wheel chair for the whole vacation but I did it. Nothing was going to stop me- they didnt even want to release me when they did!

GO FOR IT!!!! and good luck!:grouphug:
