Has anyone done this recently- we will be staying at Pop and my dd would like to get it done first or second day- where do we go and how much should we set aside? THanks, Jen

I hope you get a few responses, as my granddaughter will need to do this also:)

I'm assuming you are referring to the hair wraps, I didn't see actual braiding while we were there in Feb. If you are, the station is right by the Hippy Dippy pool, when you walk out of the food court and down the steps. I'm not sure what time they open at, but it's not early, however, they are open well into the evening. They charge by the inch and then extra for the beads. My DD10 has hair that is about down to her chin and hers was probaby $35-40 with the tip (sorry, I don't remember the exact price). We have had it done every year, but usually get it done by POTC, just outside the gift shop and 1 year got it at AK. I think the prices are the same everywhere. I will say, although it seems expensive, they really seem to last a long time, we usually end up taking them out because DD is sick of having it in, not because it wore out. We went the 3rd week in Feb and DD still has it in and it still looks like new. Hope this helps--have fun!!

Minimum charge is $35. Adding beads tacks on more. Long hair adds more. It is like $8/ inch.

Oh yeah, and you should tip! The hair wrappers are NOT employed by Disney, and the wrappers I spoke with said the company makes a fortune and the wrappers make very little.

And their hands get sore from wrapping so much.

I remember when i was younger, i got it done and it lasted like 1/2 a year. I've had a friend whose lasted 2 years. Its a very good deal for the length of time. I do not remember what i paid though all i know is me, and my parents were happy with it :)

I don't think it's quite $8 per inch....It seems like last year at All Star Music it was $1/inch. My 3 DD's had it done and they were between $20 and $30 each.

Yes, I was totalling the entire bill. With the min. charge and min. beads, it is effectively $8/inch.

I know that it used to $2 per inch and then you add in any extras. But we haven't done it in a few years (DD has been sucked into the BBB instead LOL) so I'm not sure if the prices have increased.

Hi,
Hair wrap was 35$ at MK near POC. It will last forever, but we cut it out after a couple months. DD got a bunch of beads and a charm. Her hair was just beyond her shoulders. The same gal did her hair the last time we went.
Turned out great both times.
Have fun!
Gretchen

My daughter's was not that much either. She is 8 and has a little longer than shoulder length hair. We have had it done in MGM, All star movies, POR and POP. There can be a wait if you have it done at night so make sure that you are not in a hurry.
The first three times it lasted over a month, this last time lasted a week after we returned.
It can be costly if you add charms and special beads.

My daughter had one done at Downtown Disney at xmas. She still has it in and besides the grow out from the root, the wrap looks the same as the day she got it done. There was no min. charge. It was $2/ inch plus beads. Her hair was chin length and it cost $16. We are going again this summer and my daughter wants to get another one done.

My dd10 had it done. She had it started at the top of her hair at the part. It ended up breaking her hair off....a pretty big chunk of it. She has a half dollar size chunk of hair that is only 2 inches long... 5 months later. It often stands straight up causing other kids to make fun of it and call it a mini mohawk! :scared1: Our hairdresser said you should always have it done behind the ear (the underhair) so if it breaks off it won't be as noticeable.

good luck!

I can't vouch for the cost, but they were set up next to the Hippy Dippy Pool almost every night last week, after 6 p.m. (They were probably there earlier, but that's when we came in usually). It's right by the steps coming out of classic hall, across from Petals Pool Bar. One night, and I don't know why they did this, they were set up right inside the back doors of Classic Hall, across from the Fast Forward Arcade. Might have been a lighting issue?
