Recent experiences - Upgrading Airmiles basic 3-day WDW passes to park hoppers?

We're considering ordering the 3-day tickets that Airmiles offers, but really prefer to have Park Hoppers. Has anyone recently tried to upgrade Airmiles tickets and been successful, or not?

Someone just upgraded to annual passes lately. It should not be an issue.

I upgraded my Airmiles tickets in October to add Parkhopper. It was very easy. Someone mentioned to use the tickets first and upgrade on your way out. I did that but am not sure if it was necessary.

I've done it twice...most recently last March. If you can use the tickets at least once before upgrading it will lock them in at the gate price so that if by chance AM paid less you will not be charged the difference between what was paid and what gate price is. Hope that made sense.
