Has anyone done the stingray city two hour tour lately? I was reading on the cruise critic board some not so nice things about captian marvins. We have already signed up for his charter and hope that those people just had a bad experience.

What do you consider lately??? We did the two hour tour on our 8/3/02 Magic cruise. It was wonderful. Here is a link to some pictures if you would like to take a look.

The boat was fine, nothing fancy but very seaworthy. We had about 12 people onboard. They served ice water and fruit punch and provided all gear. They even brought along squid to feed the stingrays. The guide got right in the water and picked one of the stingrays up so we could see the underneath. He also helped anyone who wanted to feed them. We thought the whole experience was fantastic. He let my DD14 have a go at driving the boat back for a bit!

I am curious as to what the other people did not like about this. Once in the photos, click the arrow to see the others.

Well...I gotta tell ya.....just looking at your photo's makes me wish November 30th was tomorrow....they came out great.....thanks for sharing....looking forward to our Magic cruise more now than ever...and we did it last year too!

We enjoyed Capt Marvin's in May. No complaints or problems. Much preferred over the huge 2-story boats that we saw everywhere. Much smaller groups and personal attention.

I guess my concern is the size of our group. According to Ruth it is already 28 and she is still accepting bookings for our boat!
The posts on the other board said there was no personal sevice anymore. I am relieved to hear that you all had a good time. I guess I need to stop compulsively planning ;)

Ann:

I don't think this could possibly be one group going together unless they've acquired some larger boats.

I think they have several different groups going out at each timeslot.

But don't worry... we had a great time!

I would have to agree with pugdog....our boat could not have fit many more people on board. Unless they acquired much larger boats, than I don't think more than 12-18 would fit on their current fleet.

I will email ruth again. she told me that there were 28 so far for our time and two guides, that she may need three. I will ask her if we are all on the same boat and post the reply. ann

Those were great pictures! I have to admit I clicked to see the stingrays, but LOVED seeing the shots of the Disney crewmembers at the 50's night. I really miss SEAN! Isn't he great! He's hilarious! He was on our Eastern cruise last November and cracked me up everywhere we went. My favorite nerd! :D

We did Capt Marvin's back in May and it was fantastic! We had a smaller group, maybe 9-10 total.

Have a great cruise!

Ok I emailed Ruth this afternoon, I have not heard back yet. Basically I asked her if it was going to be 28+ on our boat or not. Will let you know when I hear from her. Ann

Well, not counting this week's cruisers. There were 8 of us Dis Boarders on our tour. There may have been that many more that we did not know and that was it. They do have more than one boat. In fact they mate pointed out one at the dock that had just been completly refitted and was almost ready to go.
If they offer the video tape on your trip jump on it. It will cost you $54 for the tape and shipping but it is great.
We are already planning an all day trip with Capt. Marvin next time.

For those who might be considering doing the Disney excursion who are concerned about going on a crowded two-story boat, don't be! We went on the Disney excursion called "Island Tour and Snorkeling with Stingrays" (there are two with similar names), and mmouse37's description would describe our trip almost exactly too. The boats were small, as was the group, so there was plenty of personal attention. We plan to try Captain Marvin's in January for comparison.

FOJMO....we had the best night ever on 50's night. It started as we were eating dinner in Lumerier's and the cruise staff all came in to announce about the 50's night. We were seated right where they came in the Sean just gravitated to the girls table!!! It was hysterical, even in the dining room. John had to "pull" him away from the girls. The whole act just continued all night at 50's. We had a ball. The interacation between him, John and Robin was just too funny. He really was the classic nerd!!!

Ruth just emailed me back. We will be having two boats for that day. Now I feel better.

we wen't on a cap'n marvin's stingray city excursion. it was the best day trip we have ever had. it wasn't on a cruise though. we were staying in GC. It was a full day trip, but the guide and cap'n marvin were wonderful.

So, Ann...
I'm guessing it'll be our group on one boat... and then the rest on the other... oh well... we can wave at each other

Getting close now!
:smooth:

i am not sure how they are going to work it??
