Hi,

I just received my documents for my first Disney Cruise on May 4th (7-day) and have a couple of questions. I bought into the Disney Vacation Club and for my first trip wanted to do a Cruise since I haven't been on one in 12 years. I am traveling with my friend (both single - no children) and had a question regarding charging on the room key. Is it possible to have 2 different credit cards as payment on the different keys or do you have to only have one? Do you have to pay with the key or can you pay as you go in cash? We each want to be responsible for our own purchases and it may be hard to figure it out at the end of the cruise. Also, she drinks alchohol, I don't. One last question, for now, where are there ATM's since my friend doesn't believe in Travelers Cheques?

Thanks!!
Kathy

When you check in, you will be required to present a valid credit card or cash payment with your completed Payment Authorization Card that is in your document booklet. Do NOT put your cabin mate's name on this authorization. That way you will only be responsible for the charges you personally incur. Any charges on the ship will go on your KTTW room card for your own account. Your cabin mate will complete her own authorization card and be responsible for her own charges.

One caveat: Your KTTW card and your cabin mate's will each open the room safe. However, be aware that if one of you uses your card to open the safe, then you close it, the SAME card must be inserted to re-open the safe. In other words, even though the two of you will share the safe, only one card at a time will work. I discovered this (accidentally) on January DCL cruise.

There are no ATMs onboard, since cash in not accepted on the ship. Checks are also not accepted onboard.

Kathy:

taswira made all of the valid points I was going to make in my reply to your post.

I would only add 1 thing.

As for the paying cash.....This is not allowed, but you can however, add Disney Dollars or Cash to your account when on board. that might defray some of the SHOCK at the end of the cruise.

You will always hear "I did not think I could Drink that much" on the last night of the cruise. Or, "Did you have to buy EVERY picture at Shutters"

Enjoy your cruise

Hi,

Thank you both for your reply's, but I saw on the documents that it says only 1 payment authorization per stateroom. Will my friend and I still be able to use our own credit cards?? There are ATM's on the islands, right?

Thanks again!!
Kathy

It has always been DCL policy to allow individuals to use their own credit cards even though they may be sharing a stateroom. Your friend should have her own documents forms where she can fill out her own credit card info. Perhaps they are referring to the fact that an individual cannot choose more than one payment authorization.

Yes, there are ATM's on the islands. In fact, sometimes they are right there as soon as you disembark the ship!
