Received an offer from Vistana Villages-any comments appreciated

My DH and I just received an offer for the Vistana Villages: One Bedroom, $169 for 4 nights / 5 days and $100 or 8,000 starwood points. Very tempting...... we are Deluxe on site people. We also have 2 sons ages 10 and 14. Any recent trip comments you would like to share? I understand this is a time share, however, we were told we would not be required to attend a sales session? Any comments?

They just ring you up and leave a message asking you to call them.

We did do the timeshare just to see what it was like - and it wasnt particularly hard sell. About 40mins inc breakfast for a 100 dollar gift.

Its very nice but it depends what you mean by "deluxe on-site" as its not up to GF standards etc. The pool is good but there is only 1 deli/cafe type place on site. Down the far end of I-Drive about 5 mins from Seaworld.

I stayed there in January and it was very nice. Of course, being offsite feels quite different from staying onsite.

I say GO FOR IT!! I wish they sent it to me. Does it say you need to go to a timeshare tour? If it does not they give you the 100 back when you get there and there are NO strings attached. I have stayed there 5 times and loved it. I got one of those offers and not only did they bump me to the 2 bedroom offered me an EXTRA 50 back if I took the tour thus only costing 19 for the whole thing. I did not take it b/c I did not want to take the time for 50.oo. I say go for it. You will love it. I also suggest you do a search on this board for all the great things people have been saying about this resort in the past couple of weeks. IN addition, they just opened a new section with a new pool and a "beach" with waves called Key West.

I wish I knew how you got picked (or how I got picked) I hope I get the offer again. I am going to Vistana REsort for 2 weeks on Friday b/c we got a good deal on Sky Auction. VV NEVER comes up on Skyauction.

We stayed at the Vistana Villages in June and thought it was great! With your kids being older, this would give you an opportunity to spread out more than you would in a hotel room. We really appreciated having a full sized fridge for water, sodas, ice cream, and restaurant leftovers.

The pools are beautiful, there are large hot tubs for those who like to soak. The pool area didn't feel crowded even with lots of people, plenty of room for all.

And you're close to all the action at Disney at a fraction of the price. How can you go wrong?

The price is good, but I would say to get the $100 or 8000 starwood points you would have to go to the timeshare sales session.

No you do not unless it states it on the info you have been sent. I suggest the OP just call the 800 number and they will tell you the same thing I am saying. I have done it and no tour ...you get an extra 50 if you take the tour putting the resort stay at 19.00 as I stated in my previous post.

Thanks all for your responses. Yes, I called the 800 number.....of course they were very helpful, even offered us a 2 bedroom at Vistana Resort (instead of villages?) for the same price. They did say that we would not be required to attend a presentation. I was just curious about the amount of pressure to attend and the accomodations? Thanks again to all.
