We closed on our VWL resale towards the end of August (the 22nd IIRC). We just rec'd a small pkg. from DVC with the new member guide, the softcover handbook, and two other pages w/no explanation: a "Product Understanding Checklist" and a "Michigan Resident Supplement to Public Offering Statement" (says "Sample" at the top).

The checklist says "Signature Required on Reverse Page", but there's nowhere to sign. :confused3 It has a contract no. of 00000000.000 on it, too.

The other thing (that says "Sample") at the top, appears to have signature spaces, but nothing came to tell us if we had to sign it and send it back, or where we would send it to.

Is this normal? Should we have received any other paperwork, or something with a *real* contract number, or some type of membership cards? They didn't include any explanation, no number to call or address to mail to. I'm not sure what to do with this stuff, if anything. :confused3

Anyone know??

They are notifying you of the conditions you are subject to by buying your contract. They are being courteous in giving you copies since by buying the resale you are subject to all of the contractual obligations agreed to by the original buyer. Your contract for purchase was with your seller, not Disney. That is why you don't sign those documents. You are subject to them and they are enforceable against you without your signature--they go with the property. Think about them in the same way as covenants on a piece of property you purchase.

You apparently received two documents usually given to new purchasers at the time they purchase. The forms (the ones you got and others) that new purchasers usually receive have signature blocks and new purchasers sign those to verify they received them and return them with all the other stuff they receive. A resale purchaser does not have to sign and return any of that. I am guessing they just sent it for your info so you are aware of some of the conditions that apply to which you are bound because the original purchaser was also bound and those conditions/rules now apply to you..

Thanks -- I appreciate your explanation! :) I just thought it was so odd that there wasn't even a note of explanation and that the contract number was all zero's. It made me wonder if something was wrong. I guess we just need to wait for the rest of our info (membership cards, *real* contract w/*real* number) to arrive.

Thanks for the info.

I got the same thing and wondering about signing.

I think they could have put a note in the packet explaining the documents.

Can I ask if you also had the 0000000.00 contract number on your paperwork?

I got the same thing when we bought resale. Just hold on to it, but you don't have to sign it or send it back. We didn't and everything is fine. :thumbsup2
