Reccomended book on Katrina!

I am from NOLA, and have had a heck of a year. I am reading a really great book about Katrina called "The Great Deluge" it is very good and informative especially with the polotics that went on. I highly reccomend!

I'm not quite done with it either. its so long and I am in summer school, so I had to decide! lol. I am on about page 400 or so. I "borrowed" it from mydad after he had just started it so he wants it back!

Another great book to read is "1 dead in attic" by Chris Rose, a writer for the Times-Picayune. It's a compilation of his columns from right after Katrina until January and really gives the feeling of what it's been like living in New Orleans since the storm. It really got to me. I went through a period of deep depression and this book made me realize that it was okay to grieve....to grieve and then to go on. That's what this city is all about after all. I suggest anyone read this book who wants to know what it has been like "living in a town with a bathtub ring around it", as Chris Rose puts it.

i will have to check into that book. i know it is really sad. I a senior at mississippi college and my parentscome up here on the weekends and visit almost every weekend b/c they say it is just still so sad there and they hate it and cannot wait to move. they were born and raised there and are just ready to move on. it is really depressing.
